I read and enjoyed this a decade ago but never got to the rest of the series. In the mood for something fun and playful... this series is described by one reviewer as "a hilarious OTT steampunk vampire mash-up".

This book has been on my to read list for a while now and it definitely didn‘t disappoint. The concept of an alternate world filled with vampires, werewolves, and goblins was quite fun. The author did a great job of combining modernity with a centuries old Victorian reign. Will definitely be picking up the other two books on my next shopping trip.
The Anglophile in me finds this amusing.
And now, I‘m going to go finish my work so I can finally watch Hamilton. And maybe 1776, too, before my annual viewing of Independence Day.
Full review on goodreads, link in my bio. This book was a surprise like for me. I went into it expecting lots of cheese and eye rolling but it turned out to just be straight up fun. The romantic angle didn‘t venture into gratuitous erotica or eye-rolling-inducing romance novel territory and the actual plot was good and kept me glued to the page. And I have a solid appreciation for characters who don‘t shy away from doing what needs to be done.
Found this at the library today. High likelihood that it will be cheesy, but it did sound a bit interesting so I‘m gonna give it a go before The Fifth Season comes in.
I got some holds in from the library. I'm starting with this one while babe naps. This book sounds right in my wheelhouse: Queen Victoria and supernatural?! I'm all in! I'll take a picture of the other 2 when I get a chance. I'm very excited to get to all of them. #LoveMyLibrary
Forgot to take a photo. This might be best described as an urban fantasy steampunk w/o the grit (maybe?). It's modern day vs. Victorian. And basically in the UK the bubonic plague didn't just kill folks, it actually mutated genes giving the world vampires, werewolves, and goblins, alongside humans; all depending upon which genetics you're born with. Throw in a little "chosen one" element and a handsome hunk, and there you have it. Fun read!
What is your favourite lesser known book series? This is mine. Great fun from the first page.
Fucking loved it. I wish this world existed because it‘s a mix of everything I love. A great, fast paced supernatural/paranormal alternate history novel full of vampires, werewolves, and goblins.
Having such fun learning about all the #steampunk books out there in anticipation of getting my #steampunkgoespostal match Any must reads in the bunch? #tbr @Mommamanzi @Tiffy_Reads
Only read the first one so far but it was great fun. Love these daft covers too.... Used to have that hair #TBRsomeday
From the author's note at the beginning: "Everyone's looking for a better tomorrow, and just trying to make the best of what they have."
I didn't think this would be my cup of tea; hadn't really read any steampunk inspired fiction and have had my fill of vampire/werewolf/paranormal stories……but then I Couldn't Put It Down. Looking forward to the next installment
Just started God Save the Queen. I was a little concerned from the description that it would be a Gail Carriger knockoff. Definitely not! Very interesting world building.
He would have been 70 today. 💕
