“The secrets you hide from yourself are always the most dangerous”
Another Natasha Preston book staying on the bookshelves 😝 This wasn‘t my top favorite of hers but I did like it. She always knows how to throw in those twists at the end. I had a feeling that it was Megan for a while but once Aaron was arrested I thought I had been wrong. I wish I knew if Blake made it out innocent in the end. What a cruel group of friends… another pick in the YA category!
Another great read from Natasha Preston. Full of mystery, intrigue, and twists up to the final pages. Natasha Preston never disappoints when it comes to her thriller novels. I can‘t wait to read her other books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kenzie, Courtney, Josh, Megan, Aaron, & Kyle are heading to Josh's family's cabin for the weekend, but when they reach Josh's place, his older brother, Blake is tagging along. They head off to the cabin, get drunk, & Kenzie ends up hooking up with Blake, but next morning, Courtney & Josh are dead. The police are convinced that one of their friend group is the guilty party, but Kenzie knows that none of them would kill Josh & Courtney. Or does she?
A boom that taught me to be careful in who I put my trust in, a read i definitely recommend if you love mystery and murder.
This was a great book .. there are a few back stories in the book that some people might find triggering. Also ends in a cliffhanger and there‘s no sequel, but a real who dun it.
A group of teenagers goes away for the weekend to party at a cabin. When they wake up after a drunken bender, well, not everyone wakes up.
This is the kind of book I usually love, but it felt like a bad fit from the start. Still, I wanted to see where the author went with it, so I kept reading.
Teenagers getting killed?✔️Everybody's a suspect?✔️The MC can't trust anybody?✔️This has all the parts, but for me, it remained in pieces.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have to say I genuinely enjoyed this book. The only reason that it is getting a 4 star instead of 5 is because of some of the slight....naivety of the writing in some parts. The plot and characters were great. Just some of the internal thought dialogue drove me insane.
Thrillers aren't my usual read but Preston's way of delivering and her originality are just mesmerizing.
If you like a combination of horror and romance, this is the book for you!
MacKenzie and her friends decide to take a trip to Josh‘s cabin to let loose, grow closer, and booze it up! When Blake, Josh‘s brother, tags along last minute, the night at the cabin only grows eerier.
But the next morning, who is to blame when two of Mackenzie‘s friends end up dead? All fingers point to Blake, when there is no sign of forced entry. But is it really Blake?
A group of young friends, a weekend at a deserted cabin, a murder...

Next up, another Natasha Preston novel.
EDIT: Finished this in 2 days, couldn't put it down.
While the whodunnit here kept me turning pages till the end, I didn‘t really like any of the characters. I‘m usually a fan of YA but this felt melodramatic and oversimplified at the same time. It‘s possible teen thrillers just aren‘t my cup of tea.
⭐️⭐️
This book was just plain painful. I had such high hopes, but it was a miss for me.
This is my next read!! Apparently I'm on a contemporary murder spree at the moment ....
The premise of this book was great and it had potential, but that is about the only positive thing I can say about this book. I almost gave up reading it due to frustration and annoyance at the ridiculousness of the story. The characters were irritating and they all had the intelligence levels that you would expect from most cliche horror movies. Ultimately the motive of the killer was not believable and the ending was less than satisfactory.
Just got this today! Sounds like my kind of book. Can't wait to start it!
The story started out interestingly enough, but it all went downhill after the killer was revealed. If you're going to write a murderer, either give them a really strong motive or make them a complete psychopath who doesn't need a motive. Don't give them a shallow motive and expect your readers to believe they would actually kill people over it.
There may only be one killer, but no one is innocent.
Bum bum bum.

I enjoyed this book. Very horror movie-ish. I'm just gonna pretend the last chapter didn't happen though 😜
Well that was an abrupt ending. I am tossed between "pick" and "so-so" as I couldn't put the book down but was left unsatisfied many times while reading. The editing was poor at times. With errors in story telling, grammar and punctuation. However, the plot was good enough that I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to find out what happened next, a real who done it. The ending left me hanging and sad. Not great, but good enough as a weekend read.
Maybe I was looking for a reason to bail but this got me thinking of the game of Twister...put your right hand on red, left foot on yellow.... He's standing and leaning his elbows on his knees. 😬. Long arms or short torso? Anyhow, I've moved on. 📚
Weekends partying at a remote cabin is just what Mackenzie needs. She can't wait to let loose with her friends. But a crazy night of fun leaves two of them murdered.
With no signs of a forced entry or struggle, suspicion turns to the five survivors. Someone isn't telling the truth.
This cover is absolutely striking! I really really want to read this, Natasha is a brilliant author.
