I enjoyed this while I read it but it definitely took me way longer than i expected to read. Part of the trouble with this is that it's a bit dense because the stories are not straight forward you end up reading a story within a story within a story within a story to the nth power. You can tell there is a real love of the magic that stories bring to life on the author's part.

Making good progress in the tagged today because I am contractually obligated to not disturb my reading buddies. Especially since Rolo and Sierra usually never get this close to each other.

#BookReport
Managed to finish my seasonal read this week as well as make progress on my ongoing reads. Started Hyperion as well because the tagged is taking me forever.

#WeeklyForecast
Goal this week is to finish TMIAHM on my commute and start another while still making progress on my physical reads.

HAPPY #BOOKSPIN DAY TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE!

I'm still way behind on past picks but I cannot help but to be hype about draw day! This month's pick are one I've started but ended up not finishing before it was due back at the library (tagged) and Perdido Street Station which is on my list for SFFBC but I've kind of never gotten around to.

Planning to finish The Orphan's Tales by Valente today, then my doublespin book, Lions of Al-Rassan. After that, it's either back to Valente or The House in the Cerulean Sea

Andrew65 Great to have you with us. Good luck 😊👍 4y

This was a ponderous read as almost each new chapter was the background story of yet another new character & they all intertwined with one another.

If your love lies in fairytales, ones with dark and bitter side, chances are you'll appreciate this wondrous piece of art. Always a pick! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Moving on to the next book in a minute!

If stories are like prayers, Valente's words themselves are like hymns. Lyrical, beautiful and deeper than they seem. I'm rereading this magical book again so that I can move on to the second book, In the Cities of Coin and Spice.

Lent the prequel to this book to my bestie, Andrew. It's not a horror book, but there is some kind of scary stuff in it. #GiveaScaryBook

Today is my mother's birthday! 🎉😁🎈🎂🍾

She's a great reader who encouraged me to read as soon as I'm able to. She allowed unlimited access to books. She said the money spent on reading is never wasted. She shapes me to who I am today. And I'd like to dedicate this #greatquote to her. ☺️❤️

This is one of my favourite books of all time. The stories are intricately weaved together in a complex web, with the narrative style being like an endless matryoska. Beautiful, subversive, magical retelling of 1001 nights that focus on ladies & the power of stories. Please check it out!

I dare say that this book is one of the most extraordinary literatures ever existed. A hundred tales weaved together like dreams within dreams. It made you realise that a story is never really just a story but a thread of the grand tapestry of the universe. All I can say is READ THIS EVERYONE.

CaitlinSiem After recently reading Deathless by Valente, I'm not surprised at all to find her other work is just as amazing. 8y
BookishFeminist Love Catherynne Valente & this has been on my list a while now--may have to move this up! 8y

I know I made such a slow progress on this one, but that is because it contains dazzling scenes and meticulous intents which take time to be wholly appreciated. My brain is so full of wonder I can't think of nothing else! (And that's not so good for my study. Lol)

jmkeene I started this one ages ago, put it down, and hand just never gone back. I LOVED it, so not sure where the disconnect was. 8y
pppooraikul @jmkeene Hmm, I see what you mean. It also took me ages. I guess this book has its own flow that we readers have to catch up. 😂😂 Still, why not give it a second chance? ;) 8y

This book has a dangerously strong inclination towards the topmost position on my all-time favorite bookshelf (and yes, I already considered Harry Potter). Still, never rate a book before finishing it. ;)
