I read this one for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge task of a children's/middle grade book that has won a diversity award since 2009. This is exactly why I chose to try to complete this challenge this year- I probably wouldn't have known about this book otherwise. #BookRiotReadHarderChallenge2019 #ReadingThroughTheYears192021 #2013

Pickpick

Through Black Spruce introduces us to the next two generations of the Bird family that were introduced in Three Day Road.
This was a book that I did not want to put down, each chapter end makes the reader want to read another chapter. I forgot my book at work one night and felt like I was going through withdrawal.
Recommended. 4🌟 #2013 #Canadian

Tamra I enjoyed this one. 2y
GrilledCheeseSamurai Love his books! Three day Road is my favorite of his. ❤️ 2y
Chellebearss @GrilledCheeseSamurai @Tamra Three Day Road was my first and favourite of his books. I still need to read The Orenda but I couldn‘t get into it when I tried 2y
Tamra @Chellebearss I read that one too, but it‘s all a blur. ☺️ 2y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @Chellebearss I haven't read the Orenda yet either. 😋 2y

Galore: A novel | Michael Crummey

Sometimes the best reads are books randomly picked up at the library. So glad I decided to take it home with me! A mixture of historical fiction and magical realism, it really fit into what I was looking to read. Crummey makes this book flow in a way that I have never read before. Years pass between sentences and generations pass quickly before your eyes. I found it very hard to put this book down. #2013 #Canadian

Cabal | Clive Barker

Pickpick

Have you ever wondered whether the things that can only come out at night really exist?
Well in the town of Midian not only do they exist but they have made a home there. Those who belong with them know that Midian is a safe place for those that are made of humanity's nightmares.

This was creepy. Very creepy. #2013

SkeletonKey This is one of my favorite books / movies. 2y
TK421 I really liked this book. I also loved his short story How Spoilers Bleed. 2y
Chellebearss @SkeletonKey Awesome! I can‘t watch the movie. Too chicken 🐓😛 2y
Chellebearss @TK421 I‘m not big on short stories but I‘ll check it out! :-) 2y
TK421 The copy of Cabal that I borrowed from the library years ago had three Clive Barker short stories in it after the main story. I'm not a big fan of short stories either, but How Spoilers Bleed stuck with me. It would have made a great Twilight Zone episode. 2y
