There seemed to be enough interest in a classics challenge that I decided to run with it.

The idea is simple. Whether it‘s to utilize serial reader, read a specific classic author, or read a specific number of classics per month, join along and use #classicschallenge2020.

@CoffeeNBooks is hosting a readathon in January for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and #authoramonth will have months highlighting Edith Wharton, Ray Bradbury, and Toni Morrison ⬇️

Reviewsbylola if you‘re looking for ideas or inspiration. My personal goal is 2 classics per month but really, anything goes. 5y
jmtrivera Thanks! I think I'll try 1 per month to start! 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Sounds like something I might be able to incorporate into my reading. 🤔 5y

Deblovestoread I started reading a classic a month this year and plan to continue on in 2020. I look forward to seeing which classics are read. 5y
Reviewsbylola I figured by keeping it very basic we can all just have fun with reading classics without the pressure. @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 5y
Reviewsbylola Me too! I will definitely be adding more books to my shelves I‘m sure. 😆 @Kdgordon88 5y
Reviewsbylola Can‘t wait to see what you choose! I am aiming to read Little Women, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and Villette in January so we‘ll see how it goes. @arubabookwoman 5y
LeahBergen I think I may choose a few authors that I‘ve not read (or not read enough): Elizabeth Gaskell, Anthony Trollope, Wilkie Collins, Thomas Hardy...I‘m looking forward to this!! 5y
bookandcat I'm doing a Shakespeare readathon via Folgers but want to squeeze in some other classics too! 5y

Chrissyreadit @Butterfinger I love your idea of classic children‘s lit- classics are what ignited my passion in reading.- The Little Lame Prince, Hans Brinker, Little Women, Adventures of A Brownie. Would Mary Poppins be considered a classic? 5y
Butterfinger @Chrissyreadit definitely. I have to change my goal already. I'm doing #ChildrensClassicRead2020 with @TheBookHippie - so 1 adult and 1 children's. We 5y

Reviewsbylola @leahbergen Gaskell has been one I‘ve really been wanting to read recently. So far, I‘ve only read Cranford. I also think I have Trollope on my shelves, and I just bought a new Hardy 5y

Cinfhen @jenniferw88 I‘m thinking of starting with Frankenstein/ would that work for any of your challenge squares 🤪 5y
jenniferw88 @Cinfhen *cough*"Classics"*cough* lol! Or if you want to get a #booked2020 prompt completed too you could use it for Gothic! 5y
Cinfhen Thanks, dear 😘😘 ok that‘s my first book @jenniferw88 and @Reviewsbylola will also work for #ReadWithMrBook and maybe ReadingEurope2020 too???? 5y
Reviewsbylola I‘m so glad. I‘m excited too! I hope the momentum keeps up! @Liz_M 5y
Reviewsbylola I have a word cloud edition of Frankenstein and I think @britt_brooke gave it a rave review recently but I‘m scared. 🙈 @Cinfhen (edited) 5y
britt_brooke @Reviewsbylola It‘s one of my favorites of all time! Hope you like it. 🤞🏻 5y
jenniferw88 @Reviewsbylola trust me, I don't do scary (the movies of Pan's Labyrinth and The Matrix are too much for me) but I loved Frankenstein! It's quite short too! @Cinfhen 5y
Cinfhen Woohoo for quite short @jenniferw88 That‘s good news to me!!! Join me @Reviewsbylola 🤖 5y
Reviewsbylola As long as you‘re not reading it in January. With the JCO, #newyearwhodis, Case Histories, and two book clubs, I‘m fully booked. 😆 @Cinfhen 5y
Cinfhen It‘s gonna be my January classic, Steph and I forgot about the JCO 😜we are fully booked 😬😬😬 5y
Butterfinger @Reviewsbylola @jenniferw88 @Cinfhen it is so fun finding a title for different prompts. Rebecca fits gothic, classic, Europe, mystery for the mandmchallenge, and 1 word. 5y
Cinfhen Ohhhhhh!!!! Well done on that one @Butterfinger I will have to add Rebecca to my list too 5y
Reviewsbylola Rebecca is another one I‘ve been meaning to reread. @cinfhen @butterfinger 5y
