Next to my porch in my garden while I was reading, a monarch butterfly visited my bee balm & milkweed! My neighbor has seen monarchs, & yellow & black swallowtails. When I stopped by for a chat, I had the privilege of seeing all three visit her garden. 🦋
I decided to read this after listening to an episode of the podcast Sawbones where they discuss stinging insects. I never imagined I would learn this much about bugs, or that I would enjoy the learning. But here we are, and now I have even more fear (and respect) for stinging things. And this author was insane. I can‘t imagine letting anything sting me just to see how painful it is. But it makes for a good story!
@julieclair ... thank you so much for the lovely birthday surprise. This adorable bee towel is too cute to even use! Your words made me 🥹 in all the best ways possible. I am so lucky to have met you here. Thanks again, m'dear. 🖤🐝💛
I found a graphic on Facebook showing the bee hierarchy and I wanted to know if drone honeybees die after mating so I included that information from my Google search that I did too. I wanted to write a haiku about bees.
Bees have a hierarchy
Drone honeybees die after mating with the queen bee
because they ejaculate so hard that their penis gets
ripped off of their body
😳Wow. That sounds like it hurts 😳

I colored this picture on one of my coloring apps and it says “Don‘t worry, Bee happy”. It made me think of the #haikuhive and I wanted to write a #haiku about it in case anyone needs encouragement.
If y‘all are worried about anything at all then
🐝Don‘t worry, “Bee” happy 🐝
I know it‘s easier said than done
But everything will be alright
Brighter days are ahead
You can‘t have a rainbow without the rain
I didn‘t know what to expect with this book, it was a book club pick.
It‘s from the point of view of Flora 717, a sanitation bee in her hive in an orchard. Yes, it‘s from the point of view of a bee, and takes place in a beehive mostly. It‘s fictional, but on googling the bees‘ habits I found a lot of the hive‘s habits and actions are described accurately.
If you can handle strange and you like nature writing, I would recommend this.
I am, as Mrs Bookwomble put it, identifying the fuck out of these bees! 🐝🔍🤓
This is a Garden Bumblebee. Other visitors to the flowering shrub in our back garden have been the Honeybee, of course, a Common Carder Bee and a Red-tailed Bumblebee. The tagged guide has 28 of the most common of the ~250 British bee species, and it's enriching my lazy day in the sun 🌞
Also had a few Common Blue butterflies for variety 🦋
Always learn new things. I took up keeping bees, so I need to know about bees and their behavior. This allows me to be a better steward of the hives I care for.
Sweet Haiku for the HaikuHive 👏🏼🐝👍🏼🤩🌸🐝💝. 6d
