Nobody writes like Wodehouse! A fluffy, madcap romp filled with silly antics and irreverent dialogue. Totally enjoyable. #6 in the Blandings series. I had not read the first 5, and it didn‘t matter.

TheAromaofBooks A lot of people don't enjoy the Blandings Castle books as much, but I have such a huge soft spot for Lord Emsworth. I would also like to putter about in my garden at home and spend time contemplating the beauty of a pig 😂 2y

julieclair @TheAromaofBooks 🐷😂 I like Lord Emsworth, too! But I must admit he has not spawned a desire in me to become a pig-gazer. 😂 But of course, you have read more of these books than I have, so perhaps as I continue reading the series I will evolve. 😉 2y

If we end up not having another person, would you at all be interested in having the group with just three people and we read April-May-June (skipping March)? No worries if not, but I thought I would throw it out there!! 2y

But my health hasn‘t been great lately so it‘ll take me some time to recover from, so while I do love the idea of getting right back to reading with you this spring, I don‘t see it being possible. Blandings Castle | P. G. Wodehouse

so-so

I hate to be curmudgeonly about a Wodehouse, but I didn‘t enjoy this audiobook. The reader, with a deep, ponderous voice, didn‘t fit the sprightlyness of the characters that makes Wodehouse fun. (Though his voice was well suited for McCallister, the gardener!) But I didn‘t care for the book itself either. Only the first half was dedicated to Blandings, and the other half are random and Hollywood-based stories.
