Hosting a book drive with my friends and family. We will be donating our gently used books to nursing homes and cancer treatment facilities. ❤ any kids books will go to my work, we help kids who suffered abuse.

All the above books are mine. I'll be moving in a few months so this is a good feeling to donate what I can.

#bookdrive #donation #charity #remembertodogood

wanderinglynn That‘s awesome! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5y
NeedsMoreBooks That excellent! 👏🏽👏🏽 5y
LoverOfLearning @wanderinglynn @NeedsMoreBooks thank you. I work at a non-profit so I understand the need for supplies. 5y

Littens- what do you do with your books after you finish reading? My shelves are overflowing and I‘m not a rereader but I‘m struggling with giving them away- silly though, isn‘t it?
I could bring them to Bookclub where I know they would be appreciated but the thought is giving me anxiety!

ravenlee It‘s super hard for me, too! I keep what I love or what might be useful later, and I‘m learning to donate to the library or other group. Some friends restock little free libraries with theirs. What about hosting a swap with some book club friends? 6y
Sharpeipup Donate to a library or gift to friends. 6y
Pruzy Donate them to your library! Most likely they won‘t get added to the collection, but they will go towards raising library funds through friends of the library sales 6y

SkeletonKey If I know I don‘t need them then I‘ll trade some in for cash and credit at the local used bookstore and then donate the rest to the library. 6y
TEArificbooks I donate to LFL and the public library what I can't sell at a used book store 6y
GingerAntics The books I need or want for later I keep, the rest I take to Half Priced Books/used bookstore and sell for more book money (and sometimes grocery money. 6y
Well-ReadNeck I pass them along to friends; put in local little free libraries; donate to local library sales; or give to Goodwill. 6y
Amor4Libros I did a major unhaul a few weeks ago and gave them to a friend who is a big reader and also runs a charity through her church. 6y
LazyDays Maybe make a free library? 6y
Maude I usually pass them out at book club, I used to put them in the little free library box but we moved and I've not found one here yet. 6y
tournevis What @LazyDays says, or become a book fairy and give them away that way. 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @mdm139 @GingerAntics @Well-ReadNeck @Amor4Libros @LazyDays @SkeletonKey @Pruzy @Sharpeipup @ravenlee sighhh part of me was kind of hoping someone would say “Nothing- keep hoarding!” 😂 great ideas tho... maybe I‘ll start by bringing a small stack of the ones I can live without to my next Bookclub meeting and go from there lol 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @Maude I think I‘ll do that too- maybe it will encourage the other girls to do the same! 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @tournevis “book fairy” 🧚‍♀️ I love that! 6y
Pruzy @TheFunkyBookworm If it helps at all, I consider what stays on my shelf the truest reflection of who I am at that moment? 6y
tournevis @TheFunkyBookworm Google them. They have stickers! 6y
SkeletonKey @TheFunkyBookworm - I would normally say that but I‘m now trying to move over 2000 books so I‘m forcing myself to let go 😂 6y
goodbyefrancie I have a little free library, so mine go into the community. I do keep my favorites if I think I will read them again. 6y
Crazeedi I donate to my library, I have a small library at my church that I donate to and take care of, I shred with friends and my girls. I dont bv really have a bookstore to resell to, or I would do that too. My library shelves quite a few of my donations since they are in excellent condition, the rest go into their sale 6y
GingerAntics Nothing - keep hoarding!!! 🤣😂🤣 6y
Crazeedi I've also thought about building and stocking a free library at the end of my lane by the main road. I love seeing them being set up in communities 6y
Nebklvr Used book store. Library donations. Free libraries. 6y
BeansPage You can send them to me!!!! I'm doing a #BookDrive for an elder care/recovery facility that desperately needs books. Please let me know! 🤗💕 6y
CouronneDhiver I leave anything I don‘t plan to reread in the Little Free Library down the road from my place 6y
LiteraryinPA It‘s interesting reading everyone‘s comments! For me, being surrounded by books, especially those that I‘ve read and enjoyed, is part of what makes me feel at home in my home. So while I borrow the majority of my books from the library, the ones I own I keep after I‘ve read them. Having a library is an important part of my identity! 💜 6y
Elma I sell mine to a used book store for store credit, so I can buy more books.😊 6y
Amor4Libros My reading taste changed, I used to read a lot of chick lit so I got rid of those and made room for new books! 😂 6y
LiteraryinPA @Pruzy I totally agree! 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @Pruzy ohh interesting- judging by the current state of my shelves I have about 5 different people living inside of me 😂 I‘m going to mull this one over- good food for thought! 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @goodbyefrancie yes I‘m def going to set aside the ones I‘ve enjoyed the most! Wish we had one of those free little libraries by me- our HOA would prob have a fit 😂 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @GingerAntics thanks- it may be too late now 😂😂😂 6y
GingerAntics I figured it probably would be, but I thought it might make you feel a little better. Parting with books is always hard. (edited) 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @TheReadingMermaid I will... I‘m going to have to approach this with baby steps haha if I find I can handle the separation anxiety, I will let u know!!! 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @LiteraryinLititz I totally agree with you- I think this is where the struggle comes in... I want to surround myself with them but at the same point think it‘s a shame they are mainly being used for “decoration” if I‘ve already read them... the struggle is real! 6y
TheSpineView I put books I don't think I will read again in my Little Free Library. I hate to see them just collect dust and this way they can find another home where they will be enjoyed again. 6y
Redwritinghood I often donate them, but there are some I can‘t let go of. 6y
Bookpearl I‘ve had this same thought...And my anxiety of letting them go is somewhat overwhelming. 😩 6y
Pruzy @TheFunkyBookworm Haha! Or you‘re just complex like we all are! 6y
Pruzy @LiteraryinLititz Glad I‘m not the only one who thinks this way! 6y
LibrarianRyan I give mine away at Halloween, in swaps, and normally to kids/teens I know and work with when I think they will love the book. You could also start your own little library. Or use them as prizes with the kids you work with. 6y
Lreads I rarely reread. When I finish books I really like they go on my shelves. Others get boxed up and stored. Only the books I disliked are given to goodwill or traded for credit at a used bookstore. When choosing books to let go I always consider if I could obtain a copy again as some of the books I've read are no longer in print. 6y
Birdsong28 I give to family or charity some books that I know I won't read again. 📚📖 6y
LeahBergen I take a lot of mine to local used bookshops for credit. I donate others and take a few on “walks” to my neighbourhood Little Free Libraries. 😄 I (of course) keep my favourites and signed editions, etc. 6y
Cortg I‘ve located a handful of Little Free Libraries in my area, including the one my daughter built, and fill them. I also pass them along to friends and let them know they can keep the book or pass it to someone else. They love to tell me who they passed it on to after they‘ve read it! 6y
Cortg @Maude You can search an online world map for LFL‘s! 6y
Emilymdxn I love giving books away, I know it‘s not for everyone but I catalogue them on librarything so I know I won‘t forget them and I like the idea that all the resources and time that went into making that book can serve other people too. I give to friends & charity shops mainly. I feel like it‘s what the books would want rather than sitting on a shelf unread forever personally, and better for the environment 6y
Amiable I created a free library at work. I cleaned out a cabinet in the kitchen on out floor and I leave books in there for people to borrow or take. Other people on our floor do the same. It's a great way to share books. 6y
Amiable Also--check with the local hospital in your area. A lot of them will accept donations for their book carts that volunteers bring around to patients who are there for a while. Or they put them in the waiting rooms. 6y

ravenlee Would some “historical inspired romance” be okay? I have a few Harlequin books that are too heavily Christian for me to enjoy them, but they‘re written pretty well otherwise. 6y
BeansPage @ravenlee yes those would be absolutely perfect! email me and I'll send you the address of where you can ship them to. BTW make sure you send them via Media Mail. It's way cheaper. 6y

RavenLovelyReads @TheReadingMermaid That is Such a great cause!! I‘d be happy to send books your way- I hope the books I have are not too childish- I‘ll run the titles by you first 😇 6y
BeansPage @RavenLovelyReads they are looking for bright colors in their books to something that they're all timers and dementia patients can look through again and again and be entertained by the bright colors. 6y
Judybskt @TheReadingMermaid do they still want gardening books? 6y
BeansPage @Judybskt YES!!! Please! 🌷😍🌱 6y
jpmcwisemorgan I‘ll email tomorrow when I‘m at a computer. Do you have a timeframe for when you need them by? 6y
BeansPage @jpmcwisemorgan if I could have them before January 1st that would be amazing 🙏🏻🤗 6y
jpmcwisemorgan Ok that‘s good, I wanted to try to hit up Recycled Reads because sometimes they have coffee table kind of books. I have some mysteries already to send but if I can send some other books I‘m going to do that. 6y
BeansPage @jpmcwisemorgan that is wonderful thank you! My mother and I have both been scouring Goodwills in the area as well. We have come up with a few that are large print which is also what they're looking for and some great picture books with bright colors. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan Wow! You found large print? That‘s hard to come by. I worked in a thrift store for 7 years and I don‘t recall seeing much in large print. That‘s a great find! 6y
BeansPage @jpmcwisemorgan IKR? I'm just as amazed as you are! 😲 6y
