The author of this book traveled to many different countries in order to speak with and interview people with unusual brain disorders. Like Sharon, whose world sometimes shifts and leaves her totally disoriented to the point where she gets lost. Or Graham, who was convinced he was dead. Or Joel, a doctor who feels the emotions of those around him and even physical sensations. The brain is a fascinating organ. Five stars.

Really liked "seeing into" the life of a neurosurgeon. Henry Marsh is aware of disasters and the triumphs in a neurosurgeons life and he reflects on how he has changed through his time in the profession.
Loved the wry humour in the essays.

One of my most favorite albums….some of the best of Mark Kozelek….before he got all weird and overly “wordy”.

@TieDyeDude #TuesdayTunes

TieDyeDude Looks like he has had some troubled times lately. Good album, though. Thanks for the recommendation. 1mo

For #tuesdaytunes, I‘m sharing this playlist I found on Spotify one day when I was at the dog park with my dog. When I go to the dog park in my neighborhood, I let my dog off the leash and let her run around in there. Then, I put my earbuds in and start walking the path while listening to music and she walks with me. I‘ve been listening to this playlist when I‘m at the dog park with my dog. I like a lot of the songs so far.

TieDyeDude Fun! Thanks for the recommendation 1mo

As I have a busy day tomorrow, I am creating my #tuesdaytunes post now. A lot of cover love right now, with Cash's version of The Beatles “In My Life“ being a perennial favorite. This is on American IV, the same album as the iconic version as “Hurt“ & I think it deserves as much attention; it is more understated but the emotions are there nonetheless & it is a fantastic cover. Secondly, is Meg Myers' cover “Running Up That Hill.“ (CONT)

vivastory Yes, really. I love the Kate Bush song, but my intro to the tune was not through Stranger Things & not through Bush's version but through Myers' cover when it was played on my local radio in 2020. For a non-cover song that I am loving at the moment: Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan's collaborations, esp. their album Hawk.

CBee I adore Johnny Cash and love this album ♥️ 2mo
KathyWheeler Those Americana albums Cash did are nothing short of amazing and Rick Rubin was a genius producer. 2mo
LeahBergen I love me some Johnny Cash. Have you see his grandson‘s cover of Fulsom? I was just showing that to my 83 yr old Dad the other day. 😆 2mo
vivastory @BarbaraBB That compliment really made my day 💙 Glad you're enjoying 2mo
vivastory @CBee One of the best cover albums for sure 2mo
vivastory @KathyWheeler I gave my cousin Rubin's book for the holidays & he wasn't entirely familiar with Rubin as a producer but was interested in him. I was like, “He produced Slayer AND Johnny Cash!“ lol 2mo
vivastory @LeahBergen Off to look it up now. That's awesome! 👏 2mo
CBee @vivastory meant to comment that I 100% agree with a Scott playlist 😊♥️ @BarbaraBB (edited) 2mo

Billypar Loved the Hawk album! I listened to that one and Ballad of the Broken Seas a whole bunch. 2mo
TieDyeDude Great cover! Cash's late life offerings were excellent. I'm not familiar with Meg Myers; I was very familiar with Running Up That Hill before the resurgence. I haven't heard of the Hall album either. Thanks for the recommendations! 2mo
