Booked for Murder | P. J. Nelson

Booked for Murder (Juniper Book Store Mysteries 1), by P.J. Nelson (2024)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Premise: An actress returns to her Georgia hometown to run her late aunt‘s bookshop, only to be beset by arson and murder. And, alongside a professor and a priest, she takes it upon herself to solve the case.

Review: This is VERY much a cozy mystery, with all the joys and the ridiculousness of the genre. But it‘s a very good one.

Good news @julieclair I finished #ThematicCozies Challenge!

Bad News the Murder on Location series I've been reading off and on Christmas story really annoyed me. I hate when authors do this. Spoilery Rant hidden in Comments. #Pemberlittens

Crinoline_Laphroaig "I pried the paper back and caught my breath as I recognized the peacock feathers. 'A first edition of Pride and Prejudice.' I ran my fingers over the embossed surface."

"Not a particularly good one, I‘m afraid. It‘s worn. The technical term is ‘foxed,‘ I learned, but I thought you‘d like it."

Assuming she means a first edition of 1894 Peacock Edition illustrated by Hugh Thompson. One on Ebay in about this same condition is $3,300. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig So no, I don't think that this would happen. I hate when authors do this. Act like you can just pop down to any book store and find a rare book. And that an average person would spend that much on a Christmas Gift for someone they haven‘t been dating that long.

A fun novella in the Vampire Knitting Club series, perfect for the season!

Sheltered housing for the elderly is being built on the site of the old rectory. Some old friends move in and also some new characters.

This is book 8 in the series and I must admit it's not scratching the nostalgia itch the way the others have done. I'm starting to forget who is who, and the ebook formatting is not helping with no white space to show when we move from one scene to another. I'm not sure whether to continue.

Sparklemn I love cozy mysteries but couldn‘t get into this series. 3d
rwmg @Sparklemm I loved her Fairacre series and the earlier installments in this series so I'm not sure why this one didn't work for me, but it just didn't. Maybe a 'me' problem rather than a book problem. 3d

Hayley, who writes a food and drink column for her local paper in Bar Harbor, Maine, gets so excited when superstar, country music hunk Wade comes to town. But then one of Wade‘s roadies ends up dead. I‘m not a mystery reader, but this was a little ridiculous and a lot of fun. Lee Hollis is actually a brother sister writing duo so I had a lot of fun guessing who wrote what. Like when a guy did a roundhouse backhand. Or 2 women fought until👇🏼

Reggie they rolled on the ground until they ended up in the harbor. I almost od‘ed on the amount of-It was them! No it was them! No it was them! No it was them! lol but like I said, it was a lot of fun. A fried chicken pick! 3d
Ruthiella Sounds like the coziest of cozy mysteries! 🎄🔪🎅🏻💀 3d
Reggie @Ruthiella it was! Also, she included some comfort food and drink recipes. 3d

So my sisters and mom and I are all doing a book club this December. Picked a pretty hardcover Christmas romance. I‘m cackling though because it‘s spicier than expected. Hope mom loves it! 😊

This was a fun cozy mystery. The audiobook added to the experience as well. It did include some Bridgerton, Shakespeare, and Star Wars spoilers, so beware 🤣

Scochrane26 I always need good free audiobooks, esp like to listen to cozies, my library has it. 4d
