I want to go back in time and love this in #1986 my last book to complete #CenturyReads 100 years/100 books. I have always liked animal fantasies such as Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH so I don't know why I hadn't read it before now, but I will definitely continue. #BBRC anthropomorphic before 2010 @LibrarianRyan #SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView

Plenty of adventure, different dialects, a great villain. Just wonderful.

If one could ignore the racist slurs, one could appreciate this adventure story and culture clash set in the #Oregon wild. Trask relates to the indigenous people, but one tyee, chief, has to decide for his tribe to die in peace or war because death is inevitable. White man will come. Should be a classic, if there weren't slurs. #CenturyReads 1960

I would like to see the original story before it was revised for the 50s readers. There was some disgraceful jokes about one of their friends who was overweight. I chose it for #CenturyReads 1928

I should not like this book, being raised a Baptist, but I enjoy debating the Bible with others. And, this satire of a hypocritical Baptist/Methodist preacher is a great debate of the many things that confuse people of the Bible. Elmer Gantry, with his showmanship, is someone you will love to hate. You just can't wait for him to get his comeuppance. He is really an unforgivable guy. #CenturyReads 1927

I'm glad I read it. Not overly sweet. Likeable characters. It seems that Disney used some elements of this version. And, I am happy to say that I can use it for 1978 #CenturyReads from last year's goal. #FairytaleReadingChallenge @Charityann
