Soscha Maybe dog adoption. I think I‘d said we lost the last 3 of our very senior puppies the last 4 months. Dogless presently. So maybe we adopt. My partner is very hesitant about this. He only wants ONE. I told him two, need two to keep each other entertained particularly when they‘re younger. So maybe he adopts a 7 mo. old terrier today. On the Eve, maybe the maltie I particularly like—but the shelter has a 12yr old chi. So old man chi has seniority. 12h

Soscha IF it were my Xmas & birthday choice, we can bring home the Maltese & the little old man together on Xmas Eve. I don‘t believe prayer works but if you do please pray for us. 🙏🏻 12h

Librarybelle Lots of cleaning today for me, because the next two days will be busy baking days. I hope this afternoon will be a nice relaxing time with books (and possibly naps). 11h

TheBookHippie One holiday party done Thursday night here and it was lovely. Daughter is finally through reaction to anesthesia - took over 72 hours 😝🫣😵‍💫. Tomorrow I have visitation with my parents at my brother‘s Christmas family party.😵‍💫 praying to the gods that they just don‘t speak to me and or I don‘t hear them. But then it‘s a whole other year til I have to do it again. (I see my brother regularly). Today is just coffee, rest, books. 11h

Cuilin Quiet day, H and I are planning a Yule walk in the woods. Mostly this weekend I will be audiobooking while knitting, baking or wrapping gifts. 10h

Deblovestoread For the first time in several years we are spending the holiday at my dad‘s with my brothers and their families including 5 dogs. It‘s going to be a mad house. So today I load up and travel there so we can shop, decorate etc. Hoping it all goes well. 10h

TheBookHippie @dabbe I have zero f@*ks to give. I do this for my much younger brother whom I love and isn‘t ready to let go yet. I let go at 17. However, I‘m just hoping for quiet for all our sakes. Not realistic. But you never know. As Whitman says miracles are everywhere. 7h

Read4life …without allowing time for his children and other family to travel here. With the holidays, it‘s very difficult to get here quickly due to extremely high prices and many already traveling elsewhere for the holidays. Then she planned an elaborate funeral and gave the bill to my husband and me. She told the funeral director that if we didn‘t pay for it, she wanted them to just dispose of his body. The other family members now won‘t help out… 30m

Read4life … because they can‘t or won‘t travel here on her timeline. My husband has lost his father, needs to grieve and now has this going on. I‘m trying to be here for him and my kids who have lost their grandfather and I‘m seeing RED!!! I‘m so stressed. Thank you, dear friends for allowing me a safe place to vent. 💙💙💙 28m

Read4life I hope everyone is doing well. Since we won‘t be able to get home for Christmas with everything going on with my FIL (he‘s now in hospice care), we flew my daughter down for her winter break. I‘m so excited she‘s here. 1w

This week has been crazy with meetups with friends, sending out my resume to potential clients, vet visits and checkins (Vladimir had his annual checkup, and Zeke seems to be doing better from his illness), and finishing my holiday cards for the year. I have to plan out what ingredients I need for requested cookies, muffins, and pies for Christmas, which is fun! 1w

Cuilin What a week! My daughter R, had a fire in her apartment and had to move out. It was contained quickly and no one was hurt. They‘re hopping between our house and her boyfriend‘s dad house. They were moving out at the end of December anyway. I‘m going to see “Christmas at Pemberley” in Vermont today. 1w

@Read4life - Hope hospice care goes well for your FIL. It's a hard time, but can also be a time of peace and memory-sharing. 💕 7d

TheAromaofBooks Busy here. We are thinking of selling our house and a realtor is coming to look at it tomorrow, so we have been doing a lot of little clean up, touch up stuff. We've lived here for ten years and completely renovated every aspect of this house, so it kind of feels like we are going up for a final exam to find out how much it's worth 😂 7d

Cuilin @julieclair @TheAromaofBooks Thank you. We‘re going to the apartment today to pack up some things. My understanding is that the damage was contained to a wall and some cabinets. It was electrical because the landlord plugged the fridge into an extension cord!!! It could have been a worse situation. 6d

Chrissyreadit Obviously i‘m a day late… but really love when i can see what everyone is up to. i love these posts Deb! I‘m trying to clean and hang some greenery today. Recovering from another injury and being grateful it is healing. Trying to get excited and not overwhelmed- I decided to host a cookie exchange and Yule event next Saturday. I will probably buy my cookies- because I cannot bake these days…. and also will not eat cookies 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but miss 6d

Kenyazero Thanks @AllDebooks , it was fun reading everyone‘s responses! I‘ve been super stressed and have been having trouble looking forward to holiday season because people are a bit nasty. Just finished a week vacation in a nearby town which I think was relaxing? Helped my mom decorate this weekend. I‘m looking forward to joining a local LGBTQIA+ craft group this week and hoping it‘ll help me feel less stressed too. (edited) 6d

There are a lot of littens who i think will empathize if you want to grieve out loud and share pictures and stories of them. @TheBookHippie has a running chat on christmas day for anyone who is alone on the holidays or needs a break. I know most days i‘m held together with duct tape and bakery string so am here any time for support and hope. 6d

TheBookHippie My Daughter had a hysterectomy on Friday due to severe endometriosis - she‘s 35 and she has horrific reactions to anesthesia and we are still in that phase along with immense pain. She will not take strong pain meds as I‘m allergic to most and they don‘t agree with her either and she already reacts to anesthesia so… 800 mg Motrin it is. 6d

TheBookHippie @AllDebooks yes. It‘s young, however with the new president coming in and her unmarried status the doctor was afraid so we got it done. Since the birth of my grandson a copper IUD was helpful but not perfect, with it being likely made illegal it was too great a risk. It‘s a miracle she had my grandson, who will be 11 in February. Her case was very severe. I‘m hoping she‘s free of pain now. 6d

I have recently come into contact with a secret society here on Litsy apparently called #CoffeeBeanBookClub or #CBBC. I am SHOCKED! I'm not quite sure how it works but they seem to prey on victims of both coffee and book addiction and reward their affliction with gifts. It's absolutely wicked! How do I sign up?
