so-so

The true story of Mokhtar, a Yemeni American, that decides to resurrect the coffee production in Yemen after discovering it's the place of origin. Without previous experience or capital to fund it, he decides to learn everything about coffee and travel to Yemen to improve the way coffee is produced there and the working conditions, but leaving the country with the coffee in the middle of a civil war it's not an easy feat. Loved the beginning ⬇️

nanuska_153 and the pieces when he encounters racism in the US airports as well as the civil war part, but there's a good portion of the book that goes into the details of cultivating and roasting the coffee that really drags on. Although I am amazed at the story, I like more the idea of the book than the book itself. 3d

Bookwormjillk @AllDebooks ugh good luck. That sounds like a pain. Chores for me today- bringing my son to get his passport then bringing my daughter to get shoes. We‘ll see which is more painful. Tonight a neighbor has invited us on his boat to see fireworks. I‘m sort of looking forward to that but also feeling drained. Husband really wants to go though so I‘ll make the effort. Tomorrow is mine. 6d

ElizaMarie @AllDebooks I didn't work the last few days at my full-time job, but.. All the staff were struggling; there was some sort of water break in the ER, and we were on diversion. And I was told it was horrendous! No regular bathroom use for 48hrs (they had to use the disposable liner toilets and all! 6d

We went to the DC Zoo today & found out about bird friendly coffee. Did not know there was such a thing. My oldest wants to go to grad school & do bird research. He‘s already encouraged us to buy plants & flowers that are more native to the area to encourage more pollinators. He‘s becoming my conscience more when shopping or purchasing things.
