Talk about VINTAGE! At the request of Leah, here‘s an EIGHTY year old library bound copy of Tryst. It‘s filthy, spotty, torn, and has a Dole Banana sticker on p. 53. Out of print for eons. Stamps in the back go back to 1972.

rubyslippersreads I love the funky designs on those old rebound library books. Thanks, @LeahBergen 😊 And @jillrhudy if you haven‘t already read this book, it‘s one of my favorites 5y

Fished out my mom's copy of Macbeth from her college days. A few pages are missing but the play is intact. And boy, did she make notes like crazy!😀
I like how she has written 'Happy New Year 1980' on one of the pages.

One of my favourite childhood memories- Dad bringing a huge package of comic books for something random I won in school.
Over the years I have lost most of them while moving houses, my 'destroyer' younger brother must have got to them, to lending, recycling...I don't know.
Anyway I found this gem in one of the old boxes. Mandrake!!💖😊

One of my favourite shows on Cartoon Network (90s) was Heidi. My mom bought this book soon after. One of my favourite children's read. Interestingly, I just googled to find out that the TV show was a Japanese anime series!

So excited! I found this at Savers last night! I love old books and this one has a copyright of 1900! I googled it because I was curious about it and it was printed at Crane & Company in Topka Kansas and has an intruduction and notes by Margaret Hill McCarter who in the 1900‘s was the highest paid author in Kansas! She was also a teacher at Topeka High School which I think this was printed for. Oh btw i paid $2.99 for it! #score

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Awesome! That‘s a great find! 6y
bookish_wookish I almost thought the cashier wasnt going to ring it up! She was looking a little too hard at it! @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 6y

Here‘s a very #CoolOldBook for you. A very large, brick-like unabridged dictionary. I found this at the recycling center of all places and at the time thought I‘d use it to try one of those paper folding book projects, but so far I haven‘t quite brought myself to do that to it yet. I keeping thinking it originally must have lived on a huge podium table at the front of a Library somewhere in its past life, maybe🤷‍♀️

AmyG I have found some amazing books at our recycling center in the past. That‘s beautiful! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @AmyG I‘m glad I‘m not the only one that adopts great books from there! 👍 6y

CrowCAH Very pretty 😍 love it!!! 6y
Gezemice So beautiful! I would kerp it as a decoration. Maybe use it as a shelf or something. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Aimeesue and @GingerAntics This is the book I picked up at the recycling center, originally to try paper folding with. 6y
GingerAntics Oh yeah, no I definitely would not fold that. 6y
Aimeesue Nooooooo! Way too pretty to fold! Also, I‘d bet the pages are pretty thin, so you‘d be folding f o. r. e. v e r ..... 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice @AmyG @Aimeesue @GingerAntics This is why I love Litsy, you not only understand why I brought it home, but why I haven‘t folded it. My family is more like, ‘why on earth did you bring that home with you.‘ And as it sits there looking pretty, for months now, it‘s become more of, ‘I thought you were going to make something with that‘. 😂. Litsy gets me! 6y
GingerAntics This is like my book nerd family!!! 6y

A fictionalised account of Helen Garner's life in the early 70's in a share house in North Fitzroy with a young daughter and a heroin addicted lover. It caused a stir when it was published in 1977 but is now considered an Australian classic #ozliterature

A first edition of Paradise Lost (1667) still in its original binding and with a manuscript inscription from contemporary Poet Laureate John Dryden ?
"Three Pets in the distant Ages born
Greece, Italy, and England did adorn.
The First in loftiness of thought surpass'd
The Next in Majesty, in both ye Last
The Force of Nature could no farther go;
To make a Third, she joyn'd ye former two.
