This is a typical Hero's journey with all the usual tropes you'd expect. Nothing earth shattering or different. Still I enjoyed visiting the world of Alagaësia and getting to meet all the characters. I'm intrigued to see where the series will take me.
I have my suspicions and would like to confirm them.
I'm about halfway through this chunkster. Although I find the main group of characters likable, I reiterate my observation from a previous post that this book could have been trimmed significantly, which would have made the plot much more riveting. The author tends to glide through her fantasy world much too slowly. I will certainly read to the end. But whether I continue reading the series is very much up in the air.

pickI read this for Bookwyrms Book Club, my newly-minted fantasy book club for kids at the library. It‘s based on “The Reluctant Dragon”, a short story by Kenneth Grahame (which, admittedly, I‘ve never read). It was super sweet — basically “Ferdinand” made mythical, about a cultured & sensitive dragon who would rather read, paint watercolors, play the piano, eat creme brûlée, and put on plays than fight. The kids all loved it! ??

January 16th is the BEST day of January, in my opinion! 😋 What are some of your favorite dragon books?
This was my first comfort book. I think I was 6 at the time in 1981. I carried it with me, even took it to my Girl Scouts camping trip and kept it under my head at night. Thanks, Mr. Yarrow for my initial foray into fantasy as escapism. Without his song, I wouldn't have had my book.
pickI always forget how much i love this series. Although i'm not a huge fan of the voice actor. I do not like how he does the dragon's voices. Lol
pickThis is another sweet, short story of beautiful, unique love. I love this just as much as I love The Solstice Prince. I love the idea as a human to love being part of (or the only part of) a dragon‘s hoard.
