Unfortunately our US trip and summer holidays interrupted the flow a little - Trix and I had about 20 minutes to go before we left and then struggled to regain the narrative thread when we did many to finish 6 weeks later. It is a good fantasy series, however, in the vein of Tolkien but slightly less complex. Eragon and Safira are interesting heroes and I look forward to seeing how their saga plays out.
Let the kiddos have screen time so I can start on the second book in The Inheritance Cycle. I love rereading this series. I need to see if my local thrift store has the fourth book, so I can complete the collection.

I'm putting off housework to read and fill out my book journal. It's not fancy, but just keeping track of my chapters keeps me motivated.
This year will be filled with reading this series, The Wheel of Time series, and the four secret project books from Brandon Sanderson. Here's hoping by the end of all that, I'll be an expert swordsman.
My #bookspin pick was this excellent early-reader fantasy tale. Simple reading in a beginner chapter book that encourages nuanced thinking.
“But why go back for death when he had a chance at life?”
I love how for each animal there is a description, abilities and alliances
