Lady Chatterley's Lover | D. H. Lawrence

But a great deal of us is together, and we can but abide by it, and steer our courses to meet soon. John Thomas says good-night to Lady Jane, a little droopingly, but with a hopeful heart.

I just got this email from the Penguin publishing house, and now I‘m feeling super old. Historical fiction?! Set during my childhood?!! Oy vey.

https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/the-read-down/books-set-in-the-1980s/

TheBookHippie Oy to the vey. One of my readers asked if cars were around in my 1970s growing up years 👀😅😵‍💫😭 4d

Bookwormjillk My kids love to tell me I was born in the 1900‘s like I was born in the prairie or something. 4d
Ruthiella 😂 Oh well, it had to happen sometime. When I was a teenager on the‘80s, I thought the 1950s were ancient history. 4d
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thanks for sharing! This one is phenomenal 💚 4d
LittlePixels I got the same email and thought the same thing!! But the list was interesting and I may have added another 📕 to my ever-growing TBR… 4d
marleed 80s HF is so interesting because of the what the AIDS epidemic and so many in a generation of gay men who tragically never had the opportunity to grow old. 4d

Ruthiella Barbi was multi talented! She sang Philadelphia Freedom on a McCloud episode that for whatever reason I still remember. She‘s also one of the few women (preceding Pam Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jenny McCarthy) who was able to have a real career after starting as a Playboy model…not an easy thing to achieve. (edited) 2w
TheBookHippie @Ruthiella Yes, I did know she went on to good things. This however cracked me up. She CAN sing and act and did successfully. I think she got away from Playboy unscathed more than others. She married had kids etc as well as designing cool houses. This song from a Playboy Bunny and Hugh Hefners old girlfriend was just too good, it was like good sarcasm or satire!!! (edited) 2w

Final #roll100 read from the May list. I feel like this would have been really shocking when it first came out but there‘s so much erotica around these days I didn‘t really think it was anything special. Onto the next one!

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Also, I didn‘t realize Shelley Bradley was Shayla Black until I was trying to find this book on here.

First book of The Original Sinners series and I am lukewarm about it. There was a lot of unnecessary drama and I felt the story dragged in places. I guess you could say, this book didn't give me all the feels that I normally get when I am invested with the story and the characters lives. I doubt I will read book two. 3⭐️ #SeriesLove2024

Also this is the first book finished during the #20in4 readathon hosted by @Andrew65

Apparently I've hit my smut threshold because this was too much for me... Just too much ... But if you're looking for a seriously spicy series, then look no further 😮‍💨🫣🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Pickpick

I reckon it would be an interesting read for people with a specific interest in BDSM psychology, and/or the history of erotic texts… but as a spicy read, or as an instructional text, Story Of O falls short in many respects. It‘s definitely not one for the mildly-curious recreational reader. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/story-of-o-pauline-reage/

bookishbitch Oh my! I read this 35ish years ago!! It was given to me by a man I was in the military with. I didn't put much thought into the why at the time. Now I wonder if it was a fishing expedition. I returned it after reading and said it wasn't my thing. But I've never seen or heard about it since. I do remember thinking it was quite bizarre at the time. Your longer review definitely hits those notes of why. 1mo
