Fifty Shades Trilogy: Fifty Shades of Grey / Fifty Shades Darker / Fifty Shades Freed
Fifty Shades Trilogy: Fifty Shades of Grey / Fifty Shades Darker / Fifty Shades Freed | E L James
All three books in the phenomenally bestselling Fifty Shades trilogy, now a series of major films. Fifty Shades of Grey When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews successful entrepreneur Christian Grey, she finds him very attractive and deeply intimidating. Unworldly and innocent, Ana is shocked to find she wants this man, and excited when she realises that Christian wants her too. As they embark on a passionate love affair, Ana discovers more about her own desires, as well as the dark secrets Christian keeps hidden away from public view... Fifty Shades Darker Daunted by the dark secrets of the tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Ana Steele has broken off their relationship. But when Christian proposes a new arrangement, she cannot resist. Soon she is learning more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding lover than she ever thought possible... Fifty Shades Freed Anastasia Steele always knew that loving Christian Grey would not be easy, and being together poses challenges neither of them had anticipated. But, finally together, they have love, passion, intimacy, wealth, and a world of infinite possibilities. But just when it seems that they really do have it all, tragedy and fate combine to make Ana's worst nightmares come true...

Hello Littens! My book club has decided we want to read a Fifty Shades type book, but hoping for a bit more plot. 😉 Or, maybe something along the lines of Verity by Colleen Hoover. Something fun and entertaining. Suggestions, please??? Thank you!!! The picture is just for fun. 🥰#petsoflitsy #catsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy

Megabooks Cuties! 🤩 Not sure about a book. 3y

Guess what Littens? I'm back! I apologize for the hiatus, but life has been getting in the way. Since my last post, I have become a book reviewer on Instagram, and I get paid to do book reviews for the Online Book Club website! I have also started writing again and I have three books going that I hope to publish all at around the same time! I've missed you all and it feels so good to finally be back! ❤

#16, #17, #18: Well this happened. I was super late to this party, but WOW do I have so many thoughts about this series. Also I watched the movie. Who DANNY ELFMAN did the music for... which remains the only redeeming quality. The coercion doesn‘t feel sexy - despite loving BDSM bc explicit consent around power exchange is actually hella trauma informed when done correctly. I now see why the BDSM community was like *nope* we do not claim this.

Let's talk about it
I been asked to read and review this book and so here we are. I think this one is one of the instances where I feel like the movie was better. Although I didn't hate the book and it wasn't all bad there was certain things about it that complety turn me off. For example Anna was so whiney. In the movie she was much more assertive.

50 Shades of F%#£ing Gray
Because of the fanclub...the same people who constantly talked to me like "how can you read" or "or how can you read books without pictures" or "reading is boring" or "are you really reading that big book, I will die if I have to" or versions of this, was the same stupid people jumping on the bandwagon, buying the book, huddling in small groups to discuss it and telling me that it is the greatest literary work ever?

GlitterGirl Really? Have you read Tolstoy? Dickens? Stoker? Austen? Bronté? Pratchett? Gaiman? Maybe King? Have you read Hitchhikers Guide? Have you actually ever read a real book? Or where you one of those stupid creatures who came to me for book reports in school? So suck it 50 Shades Fanclub! Mamma Mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma Mia, does it show again
My my, just how much I‘ve missed you?

Yes, I‘ve been broken-hearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma Mia, now I really know
My, my, I could never let you go

I guess this is how Christian is feeling at the beginning of book two, after how he and Anastasia ended things in book one. #MammaMia #ABBAinAugusy

I hate that just because this book has such a strong sexual presence that people give it an overall bad image. This is a love story and just like every other love story there‘s a connection between two people. The love between Anna and Christian is what made her different from all the other girls. He noticed her and he change for her because she‘s the one that he really wanted. It‘s more than just sex, it‘s a connection unlike any other.

TheHungryBookworms I loke the story line i just disliked how whiney she was and how much she wished the oh my and her inner goddess. That turned me off but the book wasn't all that bad 3y

This series just did not work for me! I'm yet to read the 3rd book! I found the same dialogues being repeated, similar scenarios. Just too monotonous for me! And I hated the protagonists! I thought Anna was too whiny! And her inner goddess annoyed me! Once or twice was okay but it was getting repeated everywhere! Christian Grey wasn't appealing either! Atleast I thought he was a psycho!😂😂 Just my opinion though and I haven't watched the movies!

SassyBookworm I thought the same thing! & I bailed shortly through book 3. Just wasn‘t for me! So you aren‘t alone! 6y

PenguinInFlight @Cinfhen I‘ve read them, too. It was like a train wreck, I couldn‘t look away, LOL. A lot of people love them, but I was not one of those people. I have never read or watched the Fifty Shades of Gray trilogy. As someone who was once in a controlling, abuse relationship, I have some very strong feelings about seeing that kind of thing romanticized. The points made in this link perfectly sum those feelings up. 🚫 https://everydayfeminism.com/2015/03/50-shades-of-abuse-10-signs-of-unhealthy-re... #NeverHaveiEver @ItsAngel

EmilyChristine I read the first one just so I could have an opinion. Awful. Not only the writing but also the abusive storyline. Not romantic at all. 7y
BooksAndChopsticks I read the article and wholeheartedly agree. It's beyond basic. 7y
stargazerblue49 50 Shades. I‘ve only read the first of the Twilight and Inheritance(?) saga (Eragon). Mostly so I could have my opinions about them. 7y
See All 10 Comments
That-Bookish-Hiker I read the first one which I ended up mostly skimming. I wanted to know why everyone loved it so much. First of all the writing is just terrible. Living in Portland and visiting Seattle you could tell the author did no research of the cities. You could tell she did no research for BDSM relationships. The whole thing was not romantic or a healthy relationship. I can't believe the book has as many fans that it does. (edited) 7y
EllieDottie I'm the same! I've never read 50 shades! 7y
WarpedSweetness I've also been in a controlling, abusive relationship. When I read the first book that was one of the first things I thought of. And as someone who is part of the BDSM community, she did not do adequate research. None of that book embodied the Safe, Sane, Consensual motto of those in the lifestyle. 7y
ItsAngel @GypsyKat that is a series that I haven‘t and will never read. I really don‘t know about the inner workings of the story since I haven‘t read it. I can only say that I know it wouldn‘t interest me and that I‘ve heard the writing is terrible. I also take issue with an abusive relationship being romanticized. 7y
Bookdragon69 I‘ve never read any of the Harry Potter books. 😬 That genre(fantasy) just doesn‘t appeal to me. Not a big fan of young adult books either. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y
Andrew65 Not something I'd ever choose to read. 7y

When this trilogy came out, I caved and read the first one, just to understand the hype. I loathed the characters and did not like the writing style. Sweettartlaura I did see the first one when it came to HBO. And you know what? I missed her Inner Goddess😂. I HATED that part in the books - thought it was dumb. Hollie I read all three, too, even though they were terribly written, they were quick and fun. It was the first time I'd read erotica, and while there are better erotica books out there, 50 Shades opened up that genre to so many! 7y
Cinfhen I love that @Foragingfantasy that's the power and beauty of books!!!! 7y

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm watching the first movie for the second time because my Facebook feed (the one day I check it!) was blown up with the teaser trailer for the second.... Why do I do this to myself?!??

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Guess you're a fan in denial? 8y
Library-Belle @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I wouldn't say I'm a fan but I do have a slight crush on Dakota Johnson 8y

If you enjoy reading romance novels with bdsm like qualities - choose this book. When I read the first book it was interesting to see how unrealistic it was that Anastasia's character was somewhat of an expert as far as being in d/s relationship- and Christian Grey knowingly having control over her. It was rushed, and in the first book I rolled my eyes ?every time I read "my inner Goddess".

I've read it and I am not sorry. It was a surprise for me because I didn't know at the time anything about this book and it got to my attention by accident. It was interesting and fun to read.

MrBook One should never be sorry reading something. 😊 8y
Andreeacristinne True! At least, when it's about the books. Sometimes, the articles I read, I find myself missing the time I 've wasted. 8y
SarahKay I agree. It was kind of stupid but fun. You'd be surprised how many highbrow readers I know have admitted to reading it after I mention that I did. 8y
