When it comes to #flawedcharacter, I don't think there's one character in this book who isn't! One of the only books I've ever read that I both couldn't stop reading and really deeply disliked. #octphotochallenge

Sharpeipup I totally agree with you on all accounts! 8y
EnidBiteEm Yes! That's a spot-on review. 😀 8y
Gayan Perfect review. 8y
PurpleyPumpkin Yes, I totally agree! 8y

Poor Elphaba. It's not her fault she's such a #FlawedCharacter. She just wants someone to accept her. #OctPhotoChallenge

#booktober #adventurestories. I like fantasy adventures so I'm including a few of my faves in this photo. These books are full of #flawedcharacter s . The I'm pretty sure he's an unreliable narrator, Kvothe. The self described Gentleman Bastard, Locke Lamora. The youngest and smartest Lannister (Targaryen), Tyrion .

BeththeBookDragon Great picks, all of them! 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great set of books! 8y
Dragon Thanks @bethfriedman906 and @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I really enjoyed reading them and watching GoT on HBO 🐉 8y

The Historian | Elizabeth Kostova

This book checks off all my boxes tonight. The Librarian is the perfect #antihero #flawedcharacter for the #octphotochallenge. It is Kostova's most awesome #debutnovel for #booktober. And even though I've read it several times it is next up for my #scaretober read! Love this book!

BarbaraTheBibliophage Swoon. I love this book! 8y
Texreader @BarbaraTheBibliophage 💙💙💙 my copy is getting a bit ragged and stained. Signs of true love and a few friends who used less than 100% care when borrowing it. 😡 8y
Gleefulreader True story: my bookmark is stuck at the spot where I left off reading this the night of my daughter's early arrival nearly ten years ago. I've read hundreds of books since, and somehow I can't seem to tempt fate by re-opening this book. Maybe to mark her upcoming tenth birthday? 8y

Texreader @Gleefulreader that's an amazing story. I'd leave it alone and go buy another copy to finish reading it. There's something about fate leaving that bookmark alone. Maybe let her read that version some day? Cool story 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Texreader @Gleefulreader I gave my copy away several years ago. I intended to lend it, but now I can't remember who has it. And I scored a sale copy on Kindle a while ago! 8y
Texreader @BarbaraTheBibliophage I thought I'd lost my copy in a loan a few years back. And then it just reappeared like magic! Glad you had a happy ending too. 8y
Texreader @BarbaraTheBibliophage It's definitely a keeper for life. 8y
Texreader @BarbaraTheBibliophage Often when I think of this book I find it so hard to imagine writing such a brilliant novel as a debut novel. But then I bailed on 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I have Swan Thieves on my shelf. Found it for $1 so if I bail, it won't be a big loss. 😎 8y
gossamerchild Love this book! I'm also reading it for my work book group 😁 8y
Texreader @gossamerchild I hope the group loves it too! 8y
BeththeBookDragon Loved this book. The Swan Thieves was ok, but this one was amazing! 8y
AllieOCO I put a hold on it at the library! Hopefully it gets returned before the end of the month! 8y
MamaGina I recently picked this one up, sounds like I need to move it further up my TBR stack! 8y
Texreader @AllieOCO I hope you get it before Oct 31. It is such a perfect #scaretober read 8y
Texreader @MamaGina Oh yes! I'm rereading it now and savoring every word. 8y

Atonement | Ian McEwan

There are so many wonderful flawed characters to choose from, but one of my favorites is Briony Tallis. I first picked up Atonement my senior year of high school and it was one of those kismet moments of getting the right book at the right time. Briony's journey is a fascinating one and it was perfect for my 18 year old self. #flawedcharacter #octphotochallenge

katedensen Love this book. 8y
GinaAnderson I'm adore this book. 8y

megt @katedfisher @GinaAnderson @PurpleyPumpkin it's so wonderful. I'm going to have to reread it again soon, I think. 8y

For today's #antihero prompt, I'd have to pick Scarlett O'Hara. While I admired her resilience, I loathed how self-centred and selfish she was. Still, I kept rooting for her right until the end. #octphotochallenge #flawedcharacter

Day 5: "There is a tendency to romanticize Artemis. To attribute to him qualities that he does not possess."

Hands down one of my favourite #antihero #flawedcharacter #octphotochallenge @LibrarianRyan

LibrarianRyan I completely agree. One of my fav flawed characters. 🤓 8y

Invisible Man | H G Wells
post image
Pickpick

Subtle scifi with candid critique, written accessibly! Characters unwittingly build the story through ample self and external reflections in the unfolding discovery of humanity. Finding it difficult to cheer on the strange scientist, readers join the villagers' sometimes ethically questionable efforts to uncover the invisible man's lurid mysteries. Intellectually chilling, a recommend for fans of sci-fi, social commentary, or forewarning novels 👍
