So Cute! Harlow (a regular human) moves to a supernatural town & meets woman she likes. But that woman is trying to help her deceased ex (a ghost she accidentally summoned) with her unfinished business. A sapphic romcom + cozy mystery. The world building isn‘t that deep & theres only tidbits from the side characters, but it‘s fun, I‘d read more from the town.

DNFing at 40%… I could probably suffer through this book but would not consider continuing the series. So it seems pointless. someone tell this MC what is going on. 😂 both of the guys are so bland. I have an inkling about how this story will go, but I have read 234 pages & nothing has happened except some boy who is probably a vampire ate a strawberry in her direction, walked her to class & smelled her hair.

TheSpineView Bummer! Hopefully the next book will be better! 6d

My least favorite of hers. I like the world she made but Tana, on top of being immature & boring, was completely inconsistent she starts obtuse & frankly rude but suddenly she‘s adept at reading everyone‘s nuanced expressions & ultra empathetic. I wanted a bigger resolution for the New Coven. Looking forward to the #SundayBuddyRead finale discussion @TheBookHippie

I was hate-reading through the 1st half of the book -cliche plot devices & tropes, it‘s ACOTAR w/werewolves (I hate when people compare everything to SJM, I know she did not invent all things -but Blake is so Rhysand coded, Full Moon Ritual/Calanmai, fairywine/whisky- provoking a big oaf who should be all powerful but sucks at politics) sufficed to say I was not shocked at the outcome but I ended up liking it, it got to a savvy & diabolical reveal

TheSpineView Well done! 2w
Gissy Well, although first part was not good, you convinced me to try it 😄 1w
5feet.of.fury @Gissy once the cliche worldbuilding is done & the characters start interacting it gets good! 1w

Even more action than the first one, & bonds deepen between the characters as Willow learns more about her destiny & starts her journey to be her own maistre. Weirdly heteronormative vampire rules for no reason? Which is very strange when it‘s sex work positive, racially diverse, with mental health & chronic illness rep. But can‘t win ‘em all.

Weird, YA eldritch horror. Finch‘s cluelessness was a bit grating at times, but she navigates her way through her relationships & friendships at a prestigious performing arts school with a hidden horror.

So, I liked this. I liked Eleanora the succubus vampire assassin & Ben the “golden retriever energy” people pleaser werewolf. They really reinforced the consent aspect due to Eleanora‘s curse, they both balanced eachother out & there were some spicy & sweet moments… the moral of the story/final resolution wasn‘t my favorite. But it was a fun lil romp with lots of cameos from characters of the 2 prior books

Very twisty. I love this series & Vikas Adam‘s audio narration is so perfect for the 1950s film noir vibe. This ties in to the importance of storytelling & atrocious book bans. & as always I love Andy adapting to & growing his life.
