This is a dragon (who look like dinosaurs) fantasy about a kingdom where the princess daughter has to marry and consummate the marriage to her father in order to pass power to the next ruler. Uuummmmm UGHHHHHH.

I will not be recommending this to friends, however, the artwork was amazing, and I can not wait to see what the author comes up with next.

It was just okay. I am not sure I would consider this a GN. I think of it more as a fully illustrated collection since little to no speech or thought bubbles were used. Some of the stories like the Mask of the Red Death were so paired down, it took it‘s soul away, while others, we just too long winded (I‘m looking at you Tell Tale Heart).

I was immediately in love with Gertrude. The 37 year old foul mouthed pain in the heiny stuck in a 10 year old's body. She was supposed to spend an hour, or even a day in Fairyland, but instead she has been stuck for 27 years. She has just gotten more rotten as time goes on.

I‘m going to be honest, I do not understand why everyone seems so wowed by this book. The illustrations are quite good, the colors and images setting the perfect eerie tone, but the stories found within...could have been better. The story about the body parts in the wall, if written as a novella rather than a graphic short story, would have been better. ⬇

LibrarianRyan I think the author could have upped the creepy factor and had the readers at the end of their seats. The girls in the house in the woods, has lovely artwork, but the story goes nowhere. I feel these are creepy stories for a younger audience, but I feel it does not do enough. It‘s almost there, but not quite.

RaeLovesToRead I wasn't wowed when I read this but looking back at it it left an eerie impression and I wish I hadn't given my copy away! There was one story in it that I thought was awesome... the one with the sentient noodles. 2mo

Be still my ever lovin‘ child's heart. This book took me back to my freaked out happy childhood place where the Skeskies were crazy scary looking villains, and Gelflings were the heroes to save the world. This is a prequel series to the original 80‘s Jim Hensen masterpiece the Dark Crystal. I put off reading it because I didn‘t want my childhood memories ruined. They are happily intact and I am extremely glad I have books 2, 3, and 4 on hand

hannah-leeloo My fiancé got me the shadows of the dark crystal book, I'm really looking forward to reading it 🙃❤️📚 @Jackal121 3mo

Overall i loved this story. I felt for Coyote, wanted to strangle Rodeo, and became best friends with Salvador and all the rest. This middle grade book feels like a saga worthy of Gone with the Wind or Centennial but with an eye to what would keep a young person entranced, and a page count short enough to not be daunting.

The_Real_Nani What is the #LMPBC group?! 3mo
LibrarianRyan @The_Real_Nani The #LMPBC is the Litsy Markup Postal Book Club. There are 26 groups (one for every letter of the alphabet). Each group is a bit different. This is for Group M which is reading Middle Grade books. Each group has 4 people. Each person picks a book within the chosen category. Each month you read a book and then mail it to the next person in line. Month 5 you get your book back with all the notes, etc. These are nice because ⬇ 3mo
LibrarianRyan they only last 4 months. Then you can choose new groups or new categories, or not to do it at all. Usually the first person “claims“ the group and puts up an idea of a plan. I usually do MG books, and added Graphic Novels (GN) this time around as well. The overall program is ran by @Suvata but each group runs pretty independently. This is my second round and I love it. If you look over the # you will see all kinds of groups. ⬇ 3mo
LibrarianRyan Some groups are specific for mailing locations, some for the type of books etc. For example, at the far end of the alphabet are groups in the UK, AUS, etc. I know there is a creature feature group, literary group, and a classic group, this time around. 3mo
The_Real_Nani @LibrarianRyan wow! Thanks!! 3mo

What a wonderful end to this series. It was almost a shame to close the pages. Our heroes found the secret of the Dark Crystal and helped bring unity to both their people. I loved everything about this series and think it‘s a shame the movie never came together. There is a spin-off series called Beneath the Dark Crystal. I guess I will now have to go pick that up.
