I was not sure what to expect when I started listening to this (thanks to Libro.fm for the ALC opportunity), but this story is more somber than the cover suggests. It‘s very contemplative but yet also offers hope for new beginnings (hence the title). The audio narration is engaging, and I enjoyed listening to this while doing household chores and preparing kitty medicine. #52BookClub25 #AuthorsLastNameIsAlsoAFirstName #LitsyAToZ #LetterN

This has been on my tbr forever, and I am so glad the #HashtagBrigade read it, though I‘m pretty late finishing the book for the group.

This is a hard story to rate, as Esther‘s story is parts disturbing and hard to read. Knowing Plath‘s state of mind too adds to backstory of this mental health novel. It‘s not supposed to make one comfortable. Glad I read it! #192025 #1963 #LitsyAToZ #LetterB

A rich Brit hires Leo, an unlikely detective who started a website when his girlfriend went missing, to find his long lost daughter. She‘s drawn some money from her trust while in Kathmandu, so that‘s where Leo goes first. The first half of this book is well written and plotted. It goes to heck when the typos start and keep coming, and the writing deteriorates. On the one hand, the descriptions of #Nepal are excellent—the author is well- ⬇️

Texreader traveled and it shows. On the other hand, the daughter‘s charitable work is just dropped as if it were the least important part of her life—which makes no sense to the storyline, and the same is true for the dropped storyline about Leo‘s missing girlfriend. It‘s like the author plane forgot what he was writing about. For a strong start and a lackluster ending, this is barely a pick. #foodandlit @Catsandbooks #letterK #litsyatoz (edited) 2d

I needed more humor and less thriller, so reading my #doublespin before my #bookspin this month. Also #letterA for #LitsyAtoZ. @TheAromaofBooks @Texreader

I should not be reading a dystopian sci-fi in this day and time. It still kept my interest. And, validates the notion that leaders should have compassion while being bred to kill for the future to exist.

Amélie is expressing my opinion of the ending. An early novel, this shows the promise of what Cash will become. But it‘s not there yet. It does a great job of evoking its place, and I want to love some of the characters. But they‘re not totally believable. Still a good escapist read. It‘ll be interesting to hear my non southern book club members‘ opinions. #LetterL #LitsyAtoZ @Texreader
