Finished this quarter of #booked2020 🙌🏻🙌🏻

The Bonesetter‘s Daughter #panasianauthor
The Rabbit Queen #animaloncover
The Lewis Man #tartannoir
Rust #parentandchildmemoir
Man‘s Search for Meaning #aboutgenocide
David Spade is Almost Interesting #makesyoulol

Reviewsbylola Rust probably is a stretch but the author talks a lot about her relationship with her parents, her dad especially. I Mom So Hard or How We Fight For Our Lives, which I also read this quarter, probably would have fit the prompt better. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y
Cinfhen Yay 🥳well done 🙌🏻This is your #OfficialSpringEntry for #Booked2020 💚📚🌹and I think Rust works for parent/child memoir 😉 5y
alisiakae 🙌 🙌 5y
Caroline2 The Lewis man is v good! 👍 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job! 👊🏻📚♥️ 5y

I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand I loved hearing about Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds from Todd their brother/son. But on the hand it was mostly Todd's autobiography & I thought it was going to be more about them. It was a really interesting look at their family.

Cinfhen Cool choice!!! 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Too bad it wasn‘t more about all of them, but glad it still was okay! 5y

What an incredible memoir! Alan‘s writing was heartfelt and genuine, and listening to him felt more like being in a conversation. Truly a triumphant story of survival. I just want to give him a big hug!

I liked, but didn‘t love, this memoir. Well-written, and an interesting story. I think maybe my years in social work have me sort of jaded—it‘s a believable story for sure. This was my #ParentAndChildMemoir for #Booked2020 and also my #BookSpin, though! 🙌🏻

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

ferskner I also didn't love this as much as I expected. I think I listened to it too fast, but it didn't stick with me at all. 5y
Copwithabook This one brought out a lot of emotion for my bookclub when we read it. One of our members was too easily able to identify with the children and couldn‘t finish the book. 5y
Prairiegirl_reading I can‘t relate to people who can remember their childhoods that vividly. Lol!! 5y

Jenken1998 Oh i hear ya. I have had many reads ruined because of my social service career. Lol 5y
Cinfhen One of my “favorite” books♥️This book changed my reading / I began to think of the power of sharing “REAL” stories and experiences. This memoir and the one by James McBride were my original two that hooked me forever to the genre 5y
Cathythoughts I‘ve been looking for parent & child memoirs for booked2020 ..... must investigate this one ❤️👍🏻 5y
TheAromaofBooks Great review!!! 5y
alisiakae I still haven‘t read this, maybe I‘ll use it for the #parentandchild prompt too 5y
sprainedbrain @Jenken1998 The struggle is real! I have a very strong preference for fiction in general. (edited) 5y
sprainedbrain @Prairiegirl_reading That always makes me sort of suspicious... if I tried to write a memoir of my childhood, it would be 2 pages of fuzzy memories and the rest would have to be completed made up. 😂 5y
Prairiegirl_reading @sprainedbrain exactly! I would 100% be the same. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘ve got this on my TBR shelf too! I remember hearing about it WAY back. 5y

What a fantastic memoir. I absolutely love Louis, such a funny little boy 😆 I would definitely have been his friend. His mum is just amazing, every child deserves a mum who loves them as much as she loves Louis 🥰

By a DNA test Dani Shapiro finds out that her orthodox Jewish father was not her real father - she was conceived by a sperm donor. This is an honest and intimate report of how she deals with this new reality and how she reflects on her past and her upbringing with this new knowledge.

@veritysalter Thanks for sending me this one 😘❤️. @Cathythoughts This one certainly fits the #parentandchildmemoir prompt for #Booked2020!

Cinfhen Loved this book!!! Especially after reading this memoir by Dani Shapiro prior 5y
BarbaraBB @Cinfhen That one sounds like a hit or miss for me. I can love books about women who remind me of myself but sometimes it‘s just too much. Do you think I‘d like this one??? 🤔 5y
Cinfhen No, I think you can pass on Devotion. I feel like after reading Inheritance you‘ve gotten a pretty good picture of the author. 5y
