I really enjoyed this one, I'm not sure why its rating is so low. The author does a great job of putting the reader into the story, and the sense of time is perfect. It reminded me of a cross between Sherlock Holmes and The Gods of Gotham. Now to watch the movie!

mabell I was just in the bookstore tonight and heard the owner having to explain to a customer that they sold the last copy of this! How funny! 3w
BooksNBowls How was the movie? I‘ve been debating giving it a watch! 3w

Aimeesue We visited his rooms in Baltimore and his room at UVA over the past few years of living in Virginia. His rooms were really cramped, very low ceilings and the staircase was so narrow we had to take turns going up and down the stairs. 😁 1mo
dabbe @Aimeesue Amazing! I have to get to Baltimore and see his residences(s). He hardly ever had any money, so that might explain the small place/rooms, but perhaps people were (dare I say) tinier back then too. 😀 1mo

I bumped this up my TBR list so I could get it read before the movie comes out. I really liked it over all. It slogged along a bit in the middle, but it ended up as a pick for me overall. None of the characters are terribly likable so I can see where this may not be everyone‘s cup of tea. Solid, gritty historical crime novel.

AmyG Sounds good! 1mo

I love the way that these poems are shaped in different ways. I love how it states that poems are like word paintings and I just overall think this is very unique!

I would love to use this poem book during a poetry unit to give students inspiration of how to write and show poems. Also it would be fun to read to students during the day
