Getting settled in to read more of The Blind Assassin with my mom (reading The Interestings) and our lovely cat. Is it weird that when I'm at my parents' place it's their bed that ends up being one of the best #readingspaces? ☺️ I usually kick my dad out and he reads in a chair. 😂 #blindassassinbuddyread

#blindassassinbuddyread day 2: #readingspaces A general prompt while we are all just starting out. As we progress, prompts will become more specific to book content.

The view from my front porch where I like to sit on a white rocking chair to read. This photo is from last year but i‘m hoping that the view will look like this at some point while I‘m still reading book.

Where are you reading? How far in are you and are you enjoying it so far?

JenP This is our friend “chippy.” My daughter likes to leave him acorns on our front porch (a fact I just discovered a few days ago when I found an acorn on the step). 7y

Theresa I'm only on page 18. I'm trying to save it to read on my flight later today, but it's sitting on my lap as I play on Litsy so I may not be able to hold off. I'm concerned that I may not be able to stop at this week's stopping point. I am taking another reader's advice about taking note & going thru the 18 pages I have read to jot things down for future reference. 7y

JenP @Theresa it‘s fine to read ahead too 😊. I think note taking is a good idea. I‘ve taken a few notes to help me understand the family tree but I‘m not going note crazy like I did with Infinite Jest 7y

Suelizbeth I am currently at work, so I am not reading anywhere 😿When I get home tonight, I will be reading from my reading chair in my bedroom. I can‘t remember what page I got to last night, but I am enjoying this book. 7y

MallenNC I know. I've never been to Las Vegas but I've been to so many concerts. The idea of something like this happening anytime, but especially where people are just trying to have fun, is heartbreaking 7y

For day two of BookRiot's #Riotgrams, here's where I read. The two places I read most are at work and at the gym. You probably wouldn't think a 911 center would provide much time to read (during the day and evening shifts, you'd be right), but on my midnight shift, there can be long stretches of silence. Merethebookgal I bet you have some interesting work stories! I can read on the stationary bike, but can't on the elliptical; that's when audiobooks and podcasts come in handy 👍 8y

BillBlume @Merethebookgal I really do have some great stories. This past November marked 15 years. And oddly enough, I find reading easy on the elliptical, but only if I'm using my nook. Paperbacks and hardbacks are a different story, though. 8y

ReadingVampire How do you become one???? I've been trying to find out where to apply? That career isn't for everyone. I know it will be slightly different where I live but maybe they have a similar way here. 8y

BillBlume @Puredragonstar these days I know the county I'm with posts it on their on job site, but I have to think places like Monster.com or its equivalents would have it there. It can get categorized as law enforcement but it often gets listed as clerical (it so isn't clerical, though!). 8y

BillBlume @Puredragonstar and yes, it takes a rare type to do the job. Manning is an issue throughout the nation. Only a third of the recruits in the academies where I work tend to make it through the entire training process. 8y
