The Assassin's Blade | Sarah J. Maas

#LittensLoveSJM The Assassin and the Pirate Lord: What a wild swashbuckling ride this was! We get to see 16-year-old Celaena, brash and reckless, sent with Sam on a mission by Arobynn. They are supposed to make a deal with Rolfe, the Pirate Lord, but Arobynn wasn‘t completely forthcoming in the reason for their mission. We see elements of Arobynn‘s corruption and Celaena starts to lose trust in her Master. She also grows closer to her rival Sam⬇️

StayCurious We see that despite being assassins, Sam and Celaena have morals and care for people. We see their history and the bond that will soon grow between the characters (I‘m already getting the tissues handy). Can‘t wait to read more from Celaena‘s early days. 6d
LiseWorks I found her reckless and not trusting in Sam. He almost died here. I'm not sure her plans are in the best interest of her friends and allies. And because we know about his future, it was a nail bitter. 6d

5feet.of.fury I like the down to the wire escape , the action was so fun, the tavern scene was great & im so excited to learn more about her & Sam 6d
mcctrish I had just assumed C and Sam were buddies from the beginning 🤯 6d
5feet.of.fury @mcctrish same! I was so confused at how they started off! 6d
Butterfinger @5feet.of.fury @mcctrish I was thinking the same. Rivals since they were kids. The pirate brawl, the chain, everything was nailbiting good. Will these characters show up again? I mean, will we see Rolfe in the future? 5d
StayCurious @Butterfinger I think he‘s definitely mentioned in Heir of Fire 5d
BarkingMadRead I love the whole enemies to lovers thing going on with Sam and Caleana although I‘m sad for her in advance since we know how it ends. She definitely plans like a 16 year old 🤣 4d

This book had so much going on. This is a new series to me and I‘m liking it so far. I liked the different point of views and it really kept the book interesting and flowing. I also like reading these with #littenslovesjm and reading it over the month. Can‘t wait for the next one!

StayCurious Thanks for joining us! 6d

This is the 1st Maas book out of the 9 I‘ve now read that I genuinely enjoyed. But darn, it should not take until the 5th book in a series to feel invested…also, there definitely are some plot choices that feel weaker than they should given the build-up. P.S. peep those lil toe beans!

annahenke Just started a reread of this one. Flying through the series… yet again! It‘s such a comfort world for me. 1w

#wdncw we don‘t care that it is 2 pm, we are flying to Thunder Bay ( to take oldest to teachers college) and we paid good money for this wee bottle of white wine with our Air Canada ticket price 😉 ( John was aghast at the day drinking 😂 and we don‘t care about that either) #littenslovesjm

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Next is to go back to the beginning with the prequel novellas. B/c they‘re broken up by book, we‘ll read one per week and I‘ll post on Saturday: Aug 30, Sept 6, 13, 20, finishing on Sept 27. I‘ve heard reading these novellas gives information that is valuable for the rest of the series. If you‘re not able to join, let me know and I can remove you from my main SJM tag list or save you for the next book.

Mehso-so

3✨ This was not my favorite book in the series. For one I like Chaol and Dorian as a team with Celeana. They don‘t have to be romantic interests just helping each other. Now there was growth in the characters, and Dorian finds a healer that he might be able to trust. The ending had me crying, angry that they killed a character that I liked, and excited for the next book. Major mixed feelings, but excited to see what happens next!

LiseWorks I totally agree, I was so upset at the death. But this might motivate them to take action. On to the next book 2w

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 ch.61-end/review: well, that‘s how you ramp up a book and get the readers excited for the next book. I felt like it was Boom Boom Boom - each of our characters had smth life altering happening in these final chapters. I‘d like to make special mention of Chaol finally choosing a side and then giving up his name and identity, just as Aelin acknowledges who she really is. That wasn‘t lost on us,SJM. ⬇️

StayCurious Did anyone else feel as though they were reading a different book when it came to the witch chapters? Funnily enough those were my favourite chapters and the most interesting. I can‘t wait to see what Manon gets up to in the next books. There‘s a lot to be done by the others: free Aedion, find the third wyrdkey, face Celaena‘s old master, free Dorian (who now may be inhabited by the Valg)…lots to do. ⬇️ 2w
StayCurious But now we‘re going to take a little side quest to the prequel novellas in The Assassin‘s Blade. For those who want to join me, I‘ll post a reading schedule tomorrow. (edited) 2w

BarkingMadRead I‘m in for the next one! I loved the Manon chapters, they were very different but in the very best way 2w
mcctrish I will join you - I got the wrong book from the library 😱 and I agree on Manon and her witch pals feeling like a different book. The Assassin‘s Blade might give me some trouble, all forms of it have long wait times at multiple libraries (edited) 2w
Roary47 I‘m in for the next one too! 🥰 2w
LiseWorks Boom, Boom, Boom is exactly right for the last chapters. Yes fir the next book 2w
Butterfinger Week of professional development, a mile long to-do list, a new baby in the family. I woke up at 3 to complete ch 55 to the end. Maas knows how to craft a cliffhanger. I was sort of wanting Abraxos to eat the grandmother. I have missed reading. 2w
