Oooh, after a slow start, I couldn't get enough of this.
I've been down a long rabbit hole on secret religious texts and Venice churches... Excellent read.

My book haul from Bookmans in Phoenix yesterday. This is a first for me. Can you spot the terrible typo in the title of one of these books?
Use spoilers below when you discover it. I‘d love to see who all catches it.
Thanks to these Litsy folks for today‘s prompt:

I wish there was a rating between a Pick & a So-So. If there was,I would put this book in that category, because it was slow for me to get into.
A friend of Brunetti‘s wife asks his help in determining if her tern son uses drugs.Almost immediately after this request, his father is found unconscious on a bridge that results in a life altering brain injury.Brunetti investigates. Are these crimes connected? The ending result is a surprise for me.
Daughter is helping me organize and add my new-to-me books to my database including this one.
Been meaning to read this book forever, and finally it‘s time! I‘ve missed littens and Litsy, and should be more active and interact with people more, because this is the safe space when it comes to social media. 😍 so thank you everyone for that.
Fairly formulaic, but a good story and easy reading. The story is of a female glassmaker in Murano, a rarity in 1500s Venice. What I found completely odd was a time skipping element that never really took hold - essentially the story spans six centuries but the main characters stay the same, yet never acknowledge this is happening - and I‘m not quite sure what that was adding or was intending to do other than illustrate “time alla Veneziana.”
What a beautiful novel in verse!
This book tells the story of two young women in two different timelines. The first is Lula, a present day young vocal prodigy studying at a music conservatory. The other is Barbara Strozzi, a 17th century Italian servant turned composer who was a real person. Both storylines were compelling and I loved how they merged!
