Started and finished this graphic novel in about 10 minutes. Just to tick off some prompts in my reading challenges. Let‘s say I won‘t read the second installment 😊

“What did he ever do that you needed to kill him?“ he cried. “ Tell me that, if you can!“
And she looked at the dead man. Then she looked back at Will and shook her head sadly.
“No, I can't explain,“ she said. “You're too young. It wouldn't make sense to you. I loved him. That's all. That's enough.“

#RiseUpReads September

I loved The Wicked Bargain so much that it will be one of my favorite books of the year. I even read the sequel set in the same universe that happens after the first book but focuses on Dami.

What did y'all think?

Laughterhp Oops! Forgot to read this one! 5h
peanutnine I loved it!!! Definitely a new favorite. The historical setting was so detailed and the world building around demons and magic so interesting! I loved the found family vibes. And I really liked Dami's character so I'm excited to read their book soon 5h

Good start to October. Immersed in folklore, this book features haunting music, unholy bargains, a sea witch (of sorts), shapeshifters, ghosts, and children who fight evil with everything they‘ve got. Really unexpected and really enjoyable.

Here‘s my list for October #ReadYourEbooks. As I predicted, I read none of the picked books for September, although I did read one that wasn‘t picked, so that‘s a win! I‘m still pretty focused on the NBA lists this month, so we‘ll see how I do with this.

dabbe @Cuilin You don't have to read if you don't want to, my friend. It's a heart-wrencher, but the best book I have ever read about the Dust Bowl period. 🩵🩶🩵 6h
Cuilin Oh I‘m “enjoying” it. So many people have said it‘s very depressing, but Goodreads describes it as a “tribute to hope and inner strength”. I‘ll continue. For now anyway. Plus, I plan on reading the Grapes of Wrath, in Nov with the #HashBrigade. Same time period, correct? 6h
dabbe @Cuilin Yep. The Joads in that book are like Livie's family; they move west to get out of the dust. 4h

Roger Barrett went from broke to being Roger Barrett Patman overnight after his mother‘s sudden death. It turns out Paul Patman (who died in a plane crash) was actually Roger‘s dad, so now he‘s moved in with Bruce & his parents. Jessica, now that Roger‘s not a janitor, sets her sights on him & starts artfully “helping” Olivia, but actually just shows how unfit the artistic girl is amongst Roger‘s new wealthy family. Liz helps set things right!

BookSpin: Gallant
DoubleBookSpin: Lucky Day

These are both appropriate selections for October 😁 and I am only one book behind in my BookSpin list for the year, so I should be able to catch up this month.

Absolutely a fantastic end to this series and I still am kicking myself for waiting so long to finally get to it!

There was so much action and I was too wrapped up in it - I was invested in the story but the characters themselves, the writing and the emotions that Schwab created here that when I got to a very pivotal scene, I was just all FEELS.
