I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this one. The story itself was very interesting and inventive, and it kept my interest, but at the same time, I didn't love it and parts of it felt like the story was droning on and didn't need to be included. But, I'm glad I read it, as it's listed on the #apliterature book list, and I've heard a lot of people talking about it.

Hamlet | William Shakespeare

We've been reading Hamlet in my AP Literature class, and my students didn't seem to be very interested in it until yesterday, when we got to Act III, scene 4. 🗡 #englishteacher #teachersoflitsy #apliterature #shakespeare #hamlet

CoffeeNBooks Act III, scene 4 is when Hamlet is in Queen Gertrude's room. When she tells him he's offended his father (King Claudius), he wittily replies that no, in fact, she's offended his father (King Hamlet). Polonius has been hiding behind a tapestry in Queen Gertrude's room, and when he hears Queen Gertrude telling Hamlet he's killing her (with his words), he thinks Hamlet is actually killing her. He yells out, and Hamlet ends up stabbing him. 🗡 6y

After having this on my TBR list for a very long time, I finally read it, and I'm so glad I did! I love romantic era gothic novels, and it was really interesting to read the novel that started our beliefs/myths/legends about vampires. #classics #classicliterature #apliterature #englishteacher

CoffeeNBooks I'm so glad they were able to work together to get rid of Count Dracula! I was afraid it was going to end like a Shakespeare play, with everyone dead. As Stoker started writing about the winter snows coming, I assumed he was using it as a metaphor for Mina's death. I'm glad she didn't die, but I'm saddened that poor Quincy did. 6y

bewareofwords No way! I finished the book today too! 😂 That was awesome timing. I completely agree with everything you said—that is exactly how I felt reading this last section! The weather and Mina‘s failing health were very ominous. But I was so happy that they were able to defeat Dracula together! 👏🏽 6y

bewareofwords I‘ve felt the same way about the Dracula myths! I had forgotten so many little things, like a vampire‘s dislike of garlic and crosses. It‘s creepy how he climbs walls like a lizard, too. I‘m interested to see what else I learn about his abilities and limitations! 6y

CoffeeNBooks @cj82487 It seems like every time I read it, I find something that I hadn't seen before. My copy of it has so many things I've written in it. Fahrenheit 451 is another good one! I just read it last weekend, can't believe I hadn't read it before. 6y

cj82487 @CoffeeNBooks I agree. Same with Fahrenheit. The first time I read it, I liked it. 2nd time, I realized how haunting the atory was. Then i had to write a few papers on it & you would think that would make me never want to read it again but nope. Lol. 6y
