Running away from home was a mixed bag, both in terms of the trip itself and what I was running away from, but the week had many joys.
1. I visited a park that commemorates Williamsburg during the Peninsula Campaign.
2. I had occasion to use this lovely candle.
3. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde spoke truth to power.
4. Politics Girl was 🔥this week.
5. Greek food for lunch was delicious.

Going with the word MONKEY for this one.
A powder monkey is the person who runs between deck and the magazine to restock the cannons with powder and shot.

This is one of quite a few books I have on the battle of Gettysburg. It was a pivotal battle during the American Civil War. It was visiting these hallowed grounds as a kid with my dad that gave me my thirst for history. It probably helps too that I work in the town, so I‘m immersed in everything history every day. #TheBattle #SoaringScores

My dad gave me all his civil war books. This is only 3 of the boxes. Time to start inventorying.

So totally RANDOM AND A THROWBACK I'm sorta OBSESSED with this little find, I have not seen this movie I tryed to watch it but my firestick was lagging, so I found this and for some reason I can't wait to read it and it's a old battered copy so it gives me all the bookish feels 😂 I want to see this flick !

Visiting Wilson's Creek battlefield, I was overcome by its beauty & its tale. Growing up Iowa & since a life long resident of Missouri, this history teacher was surprised at how little I knew of the first major battle west of the Mississippi that claimed the life of the first Union General, Nathaniel Lyons. In fact, Missouri is only 2nd to Virginia in number of Civil War battles--now that isn't something you read in most history books.
