This is the 7th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The focus of this book is on Rehvenge and Ehlena. In the first 14 chapters, we start with finding out that some of the glymera would like to see Wrath dead so the power would all be in their hands. Wrath is fighting again but most don't know including Beth. Ehlena is caring for her father mostly alone. They used to be part of the glymera but have fallen far. She works at Haver's clinic..

TheSpineView ...as a nurse. Xhex learns that one of her working girls was murdered by her boyfriend. She plans on hunting him down and killing him and she has Rehvenge's approval. We find out that Rehv has a code of ethics when it comes to his employees. Lash is in charge of the lessers and discovers that money is in short supply. He has a plan to recruit people to sell drugs to make money. Elena is Rehv's nurse when he goes to Havers for more dopamine. 19h

TheSpineView Rehv gives her his business card. Ehlena has a date after work but is stood up. She thinks it is for the best since she needs to concentrate on her father's care. Wrath comes clean about fighting with both Beth and the brothers. Beth is passed. The brothers are concerned about Wrath fighting, but their numbers are small. julesG Nice typo. 😉 I get that Beth is pissed, because she's even more concerned than the brothers. She could lose a part of her. If I were in her shoes, I'd want to see him train with as many fighters as are willing to take him on. Just to know he's fit. But she might wonder what else he's not sharing and that means they need to talk it out. 11h

I loved to get to know more about V's past, and I really loved Jane who was smart and sassy. There were also so many scenes showing what happened to other characters in the series and there is still so much coming!

I am not 100 % what I think about the ending and things that happened there. But this was a compelling read.

In this novella we further delve into Zsadist's psyche. Since the birth of Nalla, Z has not feed from Bella and he calls Nalla Bella's young not his child or their child. Yet he still allows Bella to feed from him. Doc Jane talk to Z about this and suggests that he talk to Mary. Jane also suggests that he might be able to have the slave tattoos removed with the new lasers. When he rebuffs her attempt to help him..

TheSpineView ... Jane says she will have him benched because he needs to take care of his health in order to be able to fight. Bella has a candid discussion with Phury about Z. She tells him that Z is still having nightmares and he will not hold or touch Nalla. Bella is worried about Nalla growing up with a father who is physically present but emotionally unavailable. Bella feels like she is almost back to square one with Z. She is beginning to think Z no... 2w

TheSpineView ...finds her attractive. After another nightmare and Z unwilling to talk to her, she tells him that she will leave him, for Nalla's wellbeing, if things don't improve. Zsadist is injured while raiding a lesser's home. He doesn't want to go Haver's becuase he receives a text that Bella is moving out. He tells Phury what is going on and has Mary stop her. Once back at the mansion, they have a reconciliation. Z tells Bella that he can't live.. 2w

TheSpineView ...without her. He finally gets help from Mary and the nightmares end. After a trip to a human doctor, Z realizes that the tattoos can't be removed. Mary helps him handle how he will discuss the slave bands and scars when Nalla is old enough to ask. He is now able to connect with him daughter. I enjoyed getting another look into Zsadist. I was glad that he finally had someone to talk to about the horrors he faced while a slave. Phury could have benefited from therapy too. I also like how Wrath described the feelings of a bonded male. It explains a lot of the possessiveness, dedication and fierceness the vampires display over mates. 2w

ShananigansReads The heartbreak I felt for Z when the laser removal didn‘t work. (It did not lesson as a reread) He handled it so beautifully. It shows how far he has come. I also love his relationship with Nalla, once he allowed it. She is totally a daddy‘s girl. 2w
