I always watch and appreciate A Closer Look segment on Seth Meyers' Late Night show. I haven't yet listened to his podcast with his bother, but it sounds like there's good humor and plenty of #BrotherLove.

2.5 To be honest I like Seth Meyers bio on the cover better than I like the book. This book is fine. It‘s about a bear that doesn‘t want to admit they are scared while their rabbit friend is adventurous. Bear eventually overcomes their fright when a friend needs help. I wish the story might have gotten into everything that bear did to go on an adventure while not going on an adventure was an adventure.

LibrarianRyan But getting on a bus and a train and a helicopter was a type of an adventure. So I think the book missed the mark pointing that out. This book is also overly long. And it does not sound like Seth Meyers. Parts of it that I‘m not scared you‘re scared sounds exactly like him. But the rest of the story does not have the way with words we see him using his show. The book is nice and kids are going to like it, but I think it‘s a one shot and 3w
LibrarianRyan should stick to late night. 3w

Word of the month #reflect
Leo makes a decision.
Illustrations in kid-lit are often described as simple (condescending?). The concept of reflection is not simple. In drawing, gesture is the technique used to convey meaning, but we don't label illustrations like we name literary devices. Maybe if we did, educators would teach more using graphic novels. What would you call them though?

4 ⭐ This book is lovely. While it looks like a picture book it‘s a small chapter book that is fully illustrated in color. It tells the story of evergreen a little squirrel who must go deliver medicine to Grandma Oak. To do so they must cross the forest which is dark and scary and has strange and dangerous things happen. But Evergreen learns that adventure awaits if you‘re only brave enough to take it. This book was lovely w excellent illustrations

I‘m in that “short audiobook” stage of my reading challenge for the year 🙃 I‘ve been wanting to read this for a while - it was great. Really good book on the challenges of creativity. I took a lot of notes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
