My 8 Least Favorite Books of 2025:

1. Sudden Traveler - Sarah Hall
2. Where The Axe Is Buried - Roy Nayler
3. Word-Bringer - Edward Llewellyn
4. The Fall of Partha - Steve Stephenson
5. Blindsight - Peter Watts
6. Counterweight - Djuna
7. Muddle Earth - John Brunner
8. Star Trek: How Much For Just The Planet? -
John M. Ford

The_Penniless_Author Aw man, I'm bummed to hear that John M Ford book wasn't any good. I read The Dragon Waiting (which is his cult classic) and loved it, and was intrigued to learn about Ford and the fact that he wrote one novel in seemingly every genre there is. I was hoping the others would be just as good as Dragon, but I guess they can't all be hits! 4d
tournevis @The_Penniless_Author How Much for Just the Planet? is a strange book and not at all written like your average tie-in. It's basically a musical and a farce, i.e. a literary experiment. If that's not your cup of tea, you won't like it. It is a favourite among SFF authors, but is divisive among Trekkers. 4d
merelybookish Nice tagged book! 😆 4d

RamsFan1963 @The_Penniless_Author @tournevis I got the feeling the author was going for some kind of Gilbert & Sullivan comedy but it comes off as an episode of Three's Company dressed up in Star Trek uniforms. A pie fight with the Klingons? So painful to read. I have another ST novel by Ford, The Final Reflection, that seems much more serious. 4d
RamsFan1963 @merelybookish I think it's going to be my new go to title when I'm DNFing a book 🤣 4d
SamAnne 😂😂😂 4d
tournevis @RamsFan1963 You describe what Ford (Mike to friends) was going for. It's a farce and a musical and should be taken as such. As ridiculous as the ridiculous TOS episodes were. It's not serious work. 4d
RamsFan1963 @tournevis I have nothing against comedy in Star Trek, Trouble With Tribbles, A Piece of the Action, and Shore Leave are 3 of my favorite episodes of TOS. 4d
tournevis @RamsFan1963 Even unintentional comedy works, Catspaw (edited) 4d
RamsFan1963 @tournevis Don't forget that classic, Spock's Brain. 🤣 4d
tournevis @RamsFan1963 O love Spock's Brain! 4d

My last day of teaching was December 19th. Besides my students, I loved searching for great literature to inspire; I'm already missing it. I can't enjoy my retirement because I am mourning my job. Not depressed, just sad.

For #Foodandlit #Cambodia would some of you like to read and discuss at the end of the month? It's very heavy - middle grades.

Bookwormjillk That‘s a big change! I can‘t find this book at my library otherwise I would join in. 1w
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick It looks like my library has it. I'll gladly join you in reading it. 7d
Texreader My Libby doesn‘t have it either. I‘ll check at our main library if I get a chance. 7d

Okay, I have a new favourite. 🥹 I love the art style, the adorable narrative, the monster lineup, the message of friendship, sweet and cheeky.

Another cute book that has a baby mummy playing hide n seek with it's mommy mummy. However, the baby gets lost and runs into all sorts of creatures looking for its mommy. Adorable story and wonderful graphics.

Two of my favourite words: snow day!
Finished this YA thriller last night. Kelsey‘s mother goes missing from their fortress-like house. That‘s weird because her mom hasn‘t left the house in 17 years. Then masked men show up and all hell breaks loose, sweeping Kelsey and her potential new “love” interest up in some made-for-teens action. It was okay, but not memorable.

It is not fear that stops you from doing the brave and true thing in your daily life. Rather the problem is avoidance. You want to feel comfortable, so you avoid doing or saying the thing that will evoke fear and other difficult emotions. Avoidance will make you feel less vulnerable in the short run, but it will never make you less afraid.

Also, I apparently read this a few years ago, and only realised this due to looking it up on litsy to mark it as currently reading when I started it.

TheBookgeekFrau lol - I hate when I do that 😅 2mo
Suet624 Did you like it the last time you read it? 2mo
Purpleness @Suet624 I think so, but I don‘t remember it well, hence picking up another copy 2mo

The Ghost Who Was Afraid of Everything | Nadia Ahmed (Illustrator)

Cute illustrations and excellent story. Finn the ghost is scared of flying, the color orange and butterflies among other things. Something happens that he needs to get over his fear so he can go trick or treating on Halloween. Will he be able to face his fears or just stay in the attic afraid? Read it and find out! Loved it!
