Pickpick

Joan and her young son were some of the #lasttoleave the zoo right around the time when shit got REAL- Real effed up. The time frame of this book is only a couple hours and it is NUTS. Totes thrilling. #aprella

cariashley Has anyone tried this one on audio? Wondering how it is in that format! 7y
InBooksILive This sounds like one that would make me cry! 😥 definitely going on the TBR list! 7y
Meredith3 @InBooksILive it is super intense and frightening !! 7y

emilyhaldi New hashtag #totesthrilling ✌🏻 7y
JamieArc @cariashley That‘s a good question! I read it a few months ago and it had my heart thumping hard the whole time! 7y
Cinfhen Great pick and awesome hashtag❣️❣️❣️❣️This was quite the adrenaline rush but the ending was pretty flat 🙄 7y
BarbaraBB Good choice for the prompt. Hated the book though (that mother, brrrrr😬) 7y

I‘m guessing there will be someone that is #lasttoleave in this book. It‘s been on my radar since it came out last year so when I spotted it in the shop a few weeks ago for Qc I had to get it #aprella ??

Mdargusch I bet you‘re right. 👍🏼 7y
emilyhaldi I would buy it for the cover 🍸 7y

No trip to Copenhagen without a visit to my favourite bookstore, Politikens Boghal. I could have been the #lasttoleave with my arms full of books, but I‘m on a #bookbuyingban and had Andreas, my bf, sighing impatiently every 30 seconds. So, I restrained myself, and only looked, and sighed a bit myself over all the pretty covers 😍

#Aprella

erzascarletbookgasm Sigh..😍 7y

ephemeralwaltz *SIGH* ❤️❤️ it's still therapeutic to just look around sometimes 7y
Reviewsbylola I admire your self control. Please teach me your ways. 😂 7y
alisiakae That is amazing self-control! 7y
Samplergal We are planning to visit Copenhagen next year. This looks amazing. Any other suggestions? 7y
Kalalalatja @Reviewsbylola @4thhouseontheleft haha, no special trick. I have just made a bet with Andreas, that I can‘t buy anymore books until I have less than 20 unread, print books at home. If I do buy books, I have to massage his back for 30 minutes per book I buy. So I‘m just being stubborn, and trying to read my books as fast as I can 😂😂 (edited) 7y
Kalalalatja @Samplergal it is tough, because I don‘t live in Copenhagen myself, and don‘t get to visit as often as I would like. But this bookstore has the best English selection, but there are a lot of other wonderful and cozy bookstores, which are worth a trip. I‘m sure you can find a list online. For non-bookish stuff, I would recommend going to Christiania, walking in Nyhavn and taking a trip on the canal boats 👍 7y
Mdargusch Great job! 7y
emilyhaldi Lol re: massaging 30 min for every book you buy! 😂 I‘m going to make sure my husband doesn‘t hear about that rule 🤫 7y
Kalalalatja @emilyhaldi it is definitely a motivator to not buy books! I can not be bothered 😂😂 but I really need to get under 20 soon, because the struggle is reeeeeeeaaaaaal! 7y
TrishB @emilyhaldi just what I was thinking! I‘d be spending all day massaging.... 7y
Kalalalatja @emilyhaldi @TrishB I regret daily, that I ever agreed to this 😂 7y
Suet624 I‘m not so sure about that sighing boyfriend. 7y

After a cholera epidemic kills her parents and the servants, Mary Lennox is discovered alive but alone in the empty house. She is the #lasttoleave the house in India before being sent to live with her uncle in Yorkshire.
Love this classic.
#aprella

Reviewsbylola I feel like I‘ve read this but I‘m not entirely sure. 🤔 7y
JenaJenkins I‘m reading this aloud with my 4th grade daughter right now. Other than having a comically terrible time with the Yorkshire accents, we are both enjoying it. A very good springtime read! 7y
readordierachel Fabulous book, and I love your edition! 7y

#Aprella #LastToLeave I forgot I used this book for a 🎼prompt last month, but I couldn't help but think of Augustine, an aging astronomer who refuses to evacuate the isolated arctic research center he is stationed at when there's a world-wide catastrophic event. He thinks he's alone there until he discovers Iris, a strange young girl who was left behind. In the event that the world might be ending, I wouldn't want to be the last to leave. 😳

Reviewsbylola Totally agree. If the world is ending let me die right away!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 7y
emilyhaldi Oh hell no!!! 😱 7y
Cinfhen I stacked this from your previous post....thanks for the reminder ❤️ 7y

This is the first thing that came to mind for #lasttoleave. Not the best part of Dorothy's #adventure, which comes from the original #firstinseries Oz book. #Aprella #readingresolutions #aprilbookishmadness

Three-Martini Lunch | Suzanne Rindell
post image

You‘re going to be the #lasttoleave if you‘re enjoying a three martini lunch. 🍸 🍸 🍸 I have yet to read this but I bought it upon release because I loved The Other Typist so much. Rindell has another book coming out so I should get to this. I haven‘t seen it around much—anyone read it? #aprella

Mdargusch That‘s my kind of lunch! 🍸🍸🍸 7y
Cinfhen I think my daughter read this one...I‘ll have to ask her 7y
emilyhaldi Me too! @mdargusch 😆 I bought this at The Strand for a good price just because I liked the cover! 🍸🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y

RebelReader I read this as an ARC and loved it. Very different from The Other Typist which I thought was excellent too. Really explores the publishing world during that era as well as other social issues. 7y
Pamwurtzler That looks good - stacked! 7y
Cathythoughts Is it a bit like MadMen ?! Just wondering, because it sounds good ? But I wasn‘t a fan of MadMen ...,, 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y
BethFishReads I liked it! 7y
Reviewsbylola Ive seen Mad Men mentioned in reviews once or twice but I‘ve never seen MM. @Cathythoughts 7y

This prompt stumped me and all I have is Ignatius Reilly 😂 Who will no doubt grow up to be the old man who yells at clouds, and will most definitely be the #LastToLeave any place, harassing and haranguing others, delivering one lecture after another about theology and geometry, overstaying his welcome.

#Aprella @Cinfhen @Mdargusch @emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola

Reviewsbylola Hahaha yeah that‘s Ignatius for sure! 7y
Mdargusch this definitely works for me because ignatius is lacking social cues that would tell him it‘s time to leave. 7y
bookish_wookish just had to google haranguing 😑 lol 7y

emilyhaldi Perfect choice 😆 Ignatius pays no mind to social cues 7y
Cinfhen He‘s back!!!!!!! And I love seeing Homer 😍 7y

Sweetland: A Novel | Michael Crummey
post image

After living through generations together, residents of a small fishing island in Newfoundland are offered compensation by the government to leave. Everyone slowly accepts except for stubborn old Moses Sweetland... He is determined to be the #lasttoleave the island and hatches a plan to be able to stay behind. This book is a dark comedy and also a bit of a tragedy... So beautifully written.
