Just finished book 1 of my #24in48 #readathon
Rating: ⭐️⭐️

Most of the book I was confused. I was confused on who was who because both boys sounded really similar to one another. There wasn‘t much character development. Then, the world building was very confusing. I didn‘t understand everything in the world. The ending seemed abrupt in my opinion. I did love the magic in the book. The cover is amazing as well.

CaitlinSiem You know, I had this audiobook checked out from the library but I kept listening to other books I had instead and with two days left in the loan I decided not to bother and just returned it. Now I‘m glad I did. 4y

Blood Countess | Lana Popovic

Rating: ⭐️⭐️
The beginning started off strong and promising, however as the book carried on it started to become slow and boring. Ana was naive and the relationship was unhealthy and had no substance to it. Also, the cruelty was not really there and there was no shock value. Also, the ending ended really easy.

I‘ve been looking forward to this book for two years and this fell super flat. The character had it way to easy when it came to her heists. Not great world building and not great character building. The best thing was the pace and the friendships.

3 / 25

2 / 5 ⭐️

• Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how random and pointless this story seemed to me 🤨 2 / 5 ⭐️ for being Stephen King and that's probably not a good enough reason •

I loved Need to Know. Keep Your Close had some ties to Need to Know, but I felt like it was so easy to guess things going on due to it having the same structure of Need to Know, but with different characters and a slight different outcome. It had good moments, but for me I couldn‘t wait for it to end-not in a good way.

Not for me. 😒 Soooooo boring. I should have bailed 🗑. Was hoping the end would be rewarding 🤦🏻‍♀️. Don‘t think I will follow this author. #bail #pan #belindabauer #darkside #boring #wasteoftime #canteven #notforme

This book held a lot of promise, but everything felt rushed: the situation the characters were in and their growing attraction. This book could have delved so much deeper into the characters and their emotions. It all ended up feeling skin deep. I feel let down in a sense and so I'm giving this one a pan.

Sooooo I‘ve been trying to like this and read it before watching the Netflix series. I‘m not really feeling it. The back and forth between the tapes and the listener (see I forgot his name, totally not invested) is off-putting and confusing. I suppose I‘ll watch The Closer instead.

britt_brooke It was a #pan for me. I didn‘t watch the show, but I‘ve heard it‘s better than the book. 6y
CaliforniaCay The show is definitely better. Devastating and uncomfortable to watch but better than the book for sure. 6y
MelissaSue81 One of the rare instances where the show is better! For sure. 6y

I struggled with connecting with the characters and found this boring. Nothing was surprising and was confusing at times.

Jules7 Ugh....I got this as an ARC, and since I didn‘t like the cover it went to the bottom of the pile. Good call Jules, good call. Thanks for the review! 7y
The_Heeler_Booklife @Jules7 I had the arc from Netgalley, but I thought audiobook would be faster to me. When I looked through the audiobook I noticed all the conversations do not have quotes around them. 😬 7y

The Catcher in the Rye | J. D. Salinger

Wish I could have called Salinger and asked him what the point of his book was! I just didn't get it.
I found Holden annoying, fickle, contradictory and full of himself - like a typical teenager really. But the story itself seemed quite pointless.
I can imagine that if I'd read this as a teenager myself, I would have been raving about it but that ship sailed twenty-odd years ago!
Not a good read at all.

julesG Wow, am I glad you wrote this. It mirrors my opinion of the book, probably for similar reasons. I did not read it in my teens, but late twenties and never understood what all the fuss was about. 7y
Victoria_Clyne Oh me too. I've read a number of 'classics' and not been able to figure out why they are a 'classic'. I feel like I've missed something. I have experienced the same thing with movies m. 7y
ShookBelf @Victoria_Clyne That's how I felt: like I was missing something. I can understand how controversial it was when it was first published but time has done it no favours. The whole point of the book (if there even is one) is lost in modern day. 7y
Songbird72 I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about certain classics. 7y
