Interesting HF inspired by true event where a woman was sentenced to be executed in the maiden, a guillotine used at that time. The story fictionalized the life, affair and sentence this woman. Interesting but also a sad story. Trigger point, sexual and physical abuse. However I thought, why this novel was in the Women‘s Prize fiction long list? I‘m not an expert but author describes so well each character giving them an unique/different voice⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I love this edition, so pretty! 3/3.5 ⭐️

Last book read by this author until she writes another novel. I could say this was my least favorite amongst her novels. Maybe was that ending😳🤷🏽‍♀️ However, I like how she describes characters and places, very atmospheric. You feel that hot weather 🥵. I think the book blurb is prefect to describes the story: “three brothers, one death, no answers”👌 3.5/3.8⭐️

Unpopular opinion I guess. I didn‘t enjoy this story. It started so well and there were intparts but sometimes I felt disconnected with the story with details. In my opinion it was not well integrated. I have a couple of books by this author 😬2.5⭐️

My 2 copies of this book. The UK edition was from a swap but I forgot or lost the note where I use to write the swap and who sent it to me.

I enjoyed this book and as always, love the way Mr. King describes the characters. An interesting sci fi novel. However, I think it was unnecessarily too long but who will tell that to this author?☺️So hard for Luke. I like the relationship between these characters. Some little gory scenes as expected😆3.8⭐️

Read in February 2024

This was a heartwarming story. I liked and care about Tova and Marcellus. There were predictable parts and others I think were a little abrupt specially that ending. But still, I liked it, how Tova went through her grief, her loneliness, her second chance in life to be with other persons she care❤️3.8⭐️

What a family drama about these two friends. You will know about Akorfa perspective of what happened between she and Selasi. But then you will listen Selasi perspective and things will be seen in a different perspective about what happened between these two friends and the rol of Akorfa family. It was interesting to know the dynamics of these families, their culture, traditions, beliefs. It has some sad parts. 4⭐️

Translated from the English language. Nothing was included about the translator. This is another beautiful for me edition from Impedimenta Publishers.
This is a YA thriller/gothic/suspense novel. It was a fast read. Some parts maybe were predictable but still, you want to continue with the story. There are some beautiful lines here. I like to go blind to my thrillers or mystery books. 3.8/⭐️

Another book with fall vibes. Maybe this one should be in the Litsy rating of “so-so” but it worked for me after reading many dark short stories☺️
A second chance romance. Jennifer will try to start a new life in this small town as an elementary teacher. I liked her relationship with Angela who owns a cafe near the park. Angela will introduce her Tom, the park caretaker and everything will start from there. I will continue with the series. 3⭐️
