I finished this book “Queenie”, and I really enjoyed it. I had to put it down several times because it depressed me and I didn‘t want to be put in that state of mind. Queenie is a 20ish black woman who was mentally abused as a child. Now as an adult, she appears to not have self worth. There is a bigger picture and a great story line. pickQUEENIE is a more modern, diverse and complicated version of Bridget Jones. It deals with racism, bad relationships, financial insecurity, depression and more. Queenie‘s journey is difficult and sometimes frustrating, but her character, her entertaining friends & family won me over.
