#booked2019 #setinirelandirishauthor #mounttbr

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I've had this on my tbr shelf for years so this prompt was an excellent push to finally read it. A quick read about a young widow raising her 7 children after her husband unexpected death. Made me think of it as a humorous Angela's Ashes.

BookNAround So funny, right? 6y
Cinfhen I love the cover❤️ 6y
mrp27 @BookNAround I got quite a few giggles! 6y

My first Binchy & the authors first book. For #Booked2019 winter #SetInIrelandIrishAuthor
I enjoyed it very much.Binchy is a good storyteller & creates characters you want to know more about. When Elizabeth is sent to an Irish family to get away from ww2 & the Blitz, she befriends one of the daughters,Aisling.Often separated by miles & years , when help is needed , they are there for each other.A wonderful tale of lasting female friendship.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Sounds heartwarming! 6y

Frog Music: A Novel | Emma Donoghue

Mehso-so

I read this book for my #SetInIrelandIrishAuthor #Booked2019 challenge. Donoghue is Canadian-Irish, so I hope this counts? 😐

My thoughts: I did not enjoy this story as much as I thought I would. It feels messy & dissonant. The only consolation for me is I get to learn this part of history - Jenny Bonnet's murder case and the old San Francisco.

Cinfhen Absolutely counts💚 and you‘re not the first to have mixed feelings about this book 😬 6y
thereadingowlvina @Cinfhen Yay, great! 😁💕 Yeah, I loved the history part but not so much the out-of-focus plot 🙄 6y

After a slow start, this debut novel turned into a great crime thriller. Written by an Irish lawyer now living in Perth WA,it‘s about the failures of both the welfare & police in Ireland when children are abused by family. Cormac Reilly is assigned back to a cold case he first investigated 20yrs ago after one of the children he rescued is found dead. Can‘t wait for Bk2! #Booked2019 #SetInIrelandIrishAuthor #LittenLoveBingo #LLB19 #FromLibertysFeed

Up next is this Irish debut novel by Dervla McTiernan. I love Irish names(as you might tell from my daughter Ciara name) A police procedural crime novel, Garda Cormac Reilly is called to a murder in 93. 20yrs later he‘s at another scene with ties to that cold case. This is my #SetInIrelandIrishAuthor for #Booked2019 & my #FromLibertysFeed for #LittenLoveBingo #LLB19

Bklover Definitely looking forward to reading this! Will watch for your review! 6y

#BookMail Pt1 Finally starting to feel more human thank goodness. The first BookMail today is something I ordered for the #SetInIrelandIrishAuthor prompt for #Booked2019 This was high on the bestseller list for 2018, set in Galway, DI Cormac Reilly is assigned a 20yr old cold case of what was initially ruled an “accidental” overdose of a mother of two.

AnneFindsJoy Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for reminding me, I have this book on audio waiting to be listened to! 😀📚 (edited) 6y
