pick4 ⭐This was an interesting read. Papa and son go to work on a Saturday. They have many yards that they have to tend and Papa tells the son that they can tell time by the water jug. When the water jug is empty, they get to go home. However, son did a little bit more with water than drink it. He splashes his back, he waters the pets, and when the water jug is empty it‘s only 10:30 am papa has to admit that it‘s not a magical water jug.
pickI cannot say enough good things about this book! The setup was very contrived, but I appreciate that Gerber managed to present such excellent information in a way that was engaging, rather than dry and boring. Highly recommend this to anyone thinking about starting their own business.

Trisha, the MC, seems to have a fairly depressing life, the town is full of unpleasant people, and there is more out-of -left-field drama than you can shake a stick at. I can‘t think of anything positive or cozy about it.

pickThe first 2/3 of the book documented the unconscionable hubris of big box and category killer chains. They way they extracted tax breaks and infrastructure paid by local communities, contributed to pollution, replaced good paying jobs with low paying ones, destroyed downtowns, etc. made me never want to go shopping again. The last 1/3 illustrated how some small towns fought back and preserved their downtowns and local businesses.
Spent a bulk of my evening listening to the tagged book for work and getting some stamping orders done. ….and yes ,those are Cat Butts 🐈😂
