Mehso-so

It was a quick listen, and a good choice for fans of the Colbert Report. Unfortunately, I like the real Stephen Colbert much more than his alter ego. 😆

Used this to fill the #PublishedbyHachette prompt for #52bookclub24.

At times it falls a little flat, the deeply sarcastic tone is mostly a joy to read. A political commentary that is a little ham fisted too at times, still worth a read.

It‘s sad that this is nonfiction and all of these things were actually said by a president. They show a complete lack of empathy, so I can‘t really say I wish it were longer. I can certainly see how many more similarly themed books could be created in the aftermath of the manmade disaster that is the 45th president of the United States of America. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics If nothing else, this is a really good book to teach kids not to vote for reality tv stars but for actual leaders. #StephenColbert #WhoseBoatIsThisBoat 4y
Traci1 I have this fear that it will become some sort of fame game. You have people like The Rock saying they're thinking of running, and then people saying put Tom Hanks as his running mate. Now, I like these guys. I think Tom is smart and nice and would probably surround himself with smart people, BUT we need someone who has studied law and history AND is a decent person. Surely in all of America, there have to be a few that qualify. 4y
GingerAntics @Traci1 right? I feel the exact same way. Oprah was going to run at one point. The My Pillow guy wants to be governor of MN now, he toyed with running for president earlier this year. No idea why. He‘s a huge fan of Trump, so I can‘t imagine that ending well. Most elected officials haven‘t actually studied history beyond great man history which annoys me, but I‘ll take a decent understanding of the constitution. 4y

Sheer perfection! I nearly cried, I laughed so hard. Definitely lifts the spirits. This is more of a poem than a sorry and certainly could be longer, but it was totally worth it anyway.

Traci1 It had me at "read by Tom Hanks." REALLY had me at "interrupted by Stephen Colbert" ? 4y
GingerAntics @Traci1 oh my god this was GREAT!!! It was maybe 4 minutes long, but it was hilarious. 🤣😂🤣 I was trying not to wake anyone up with my laughter. It was great. 4y

I can see why this isn't for everyone, but it made me chuckle, which I believe was the point and was a nice break from all the seriousness about.

Two of my favorites

>>I have violent thoughts when people use the terms sci fi and fantasy interchangeably. "Oh, I love science fiction. I just read Lord of the Rings." I will end you.

>>I always say the book was better than the movie, but I don't even know if the movie has a book.

So, if you've been following me, you know I just can't do audio books, as I tune it out. But I needed a palate cleanser after my latest read, and my library only had this as an audio on #Overdrive. I put it on while cleaning up, and inadvertently sucked my husband in. Not sure I'd count this as a real #audiobook, though, since it's just audio clips from the show. Trying to get my husband into audiobooks, though, so here's to ulterior motives.

jb72 It took me a good while to be able to listen to audiobooks. I started with nonfiction and it helped me along. 5y
Bookish_AF I‘m pretty similar with audio. What I tend to do is I “re-read” books on audio as sometimes I do like them for the car or doing chores around the house. Then if I zone out at times it‘s ok! 5y
