31/150 I read these when they originally came out in the 80s, but you gain a different perspective, like when you binge watch a tv series, reading several issues together. Alan Moore turned Swamp Thing from a meh superhero comic into one of the best horror comics ever written. His way with words, subtle but terrifying, and the art by Bissette & Totleben made this one of the best comics to come out
of the 1980s. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

DieAReader 🥳Great! 1mo
AnnCrystal Swamp Thing! I was truly obsessed with this character once. Speaking of binge watching a tv series, I have the newest series version on DVD...too perfect 😊👍. 1mo

As for the storyline, there really isn‘t much of a plot. It‘s more of a character study that serves as an origin story for Swamp Thing. If you‘re looking for an exciting superhero read, this book isn‘t it. The majority of the novel focuses on the twins and their relationship.

Counter to my last post, one of my favorite horror genres is botanical horror. I‘m loving this comic! 💚🌱🌿

Mehso-so

I've had Alan Moore's Swamp Thing on my TBR for awhile now. I placed a hold on the tagged book recently. I honestly don't recall if when I placed the hold that I saw it was Vaughan's version and not Moore's. Brian K. Vaughan is easily one of my favorite working graphic novelists. This is by far the most disappointing work I've read by him. A tedious, disjointed mess that left me indifferent & bored. ENTS >Swamp Thing.

KathyWheeler I hate hearing that as Vaughn is one of my favorites as well. 1y
vivastory @KathyWheeler This is the only Vaughan I've read that I've rated as a so-so. I do feel like it would be a more rewarding experience if you were a swamp thing fan to begin with. But I just couldn't wait for it to end. That's a feeling I've never had with Vaughan before. 1y

YAY!!! New. Comics. Are. Back. Diamond is shipping again & it‘s a wonderful thing. Better yet, my comics store had my pull list ready to go & so no waiting until tomorrow—this week, #NCBD is on Tuesday. New issues include The Ludocrats #1, Far Sector #5, Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars Battle Tales #1, Folklords #5 & Wonder Woman #754. Also picked up a few trades—East of West, Vols. 6 & 7, & the tagged book. Excited to read some new comics!

It‘s Wednesday...so yeah, I walked to the comic store during my lunch break because #NCBD is the best day of the week! Another light week for me. The only two comics on my pull list were Ignited #6 and Nomen Omen #5. Darth Vader #1 was an add-on for my son (which I will also read because Star Wars!!!) and then I decided to pick up Saga of the Swamp Thing Book Five because...well, because it‘s really, really good.

GrilledCheeseSamurai Swamp Thing is upper echelon good! 🥰 4y

Day 26 of the #Fallisbooked challenge by @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @OriginalCyn620

When we think of #Ascarybook our minds tend to go to novels by Stephen King or Shirley Jackson, but there are very scary graphic novels as well. Few books disturbed me as much as Alan Moore‘s “Swamp Thing” run, where he gave us creepers like The Boogey Man, as well as the horrifying moment when a monster was born... “Yes... I... have read... the file!” 😱

OriginalCyn620 👌🏻📚😱 4y
DaveGreen7777 @OriginalCyn620 Thank you! 😁 4y
vivastory Alan Moore is excellent at creepy. Loved 4y
vivastory Also, if you dig creepy graphic novels, have you read Charles Burn's Black Hole? I highly recommend if you haven't 4y
DaveGreen7777 @vivastory I hadn‘t heard of “Black Hole, I‘ll have to check that out! Thanks for the recommendation, Scott! 👍 4y
