Thank you so much @bookful for this awesome #allhallowsreadswap I'm saying over the Bob's burgers stuff. I love that show so much haha. And I cant wait to read these books! Good night goon? How awesome!!!! Thank you again!!!! @MaleficentBookDragon
Ps I had to do two pics because Litsy is so limited on how big our photos can be haha
🎧 When I started listening to this book I was thinking is this YA 🤨 ... so I figured I‘d go look and NOPE it‘s for 8-10 year olds. And I loved it!! Only 6 hours. Fun! Quick! A cross between Veronica Mars & Ghost Whisperer! I liked both so I said YES when Hoopla gave me the option of taking out Book 2 when I returned Book 1! Probably great for a family read! Harry Potter references popped up a couple times throughout the book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️2/3.
Really enjoyed this book 😊 Spooky, just perfect for this time of year. YA but great for adult readers. The first two chapters just set things up but starting in Chapter 3 you‘re really pulled in and it‘s next to impossible to put this down. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ @Gissy thanks for gifting it to me 😁
I wanted to listen to a fun ghost story for Halloween and this hit the spot. 1. Takes place in Scotland 2. Friendly ghost bestfriend 3. Not so friendly ghosts too. 4. A different take on seeing ghosts and slipping "beyond the veil" Have already started to listen to the second book in the series!
I‘ll admit that I‘m not really much of a fan of Halloween, but Litsy has made me appreciate the fun of a good ghost story at this time of year. This year the #middlegrade books I‘ve read have been my favorites.
I loved the setting of Edinburgh in this story and the Harry Potter references. The development of the friendship between Cassidy and Jacob as she learned more about herself and her abilities was fascinating. 👻
Thank you @rsteve388 for this really fun #AllHallowsReadSwap 📦! I 🖤♥🖤 everything. I am so excited to read these two ghost books. 👻👻👻
The tote is awesome and I MAY have already eaten a pack of PB cups.
@Gissy I had to open it all as soon as I woke up 😂 thank you so much for all of this! I love everything! I don‘t even know what to say THANK YOU!!!!!! City of Ghosts will get read first 😁 wish I had a day off to enjoy everything right away 😂 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃@MaleficentBookDragon thank you for organizing!!
I wasn‘t surprised that I‘d like this one. I‘ve enjoyed VIctoria Schwab‘s adult novels Vengeful and Viscious a lot. When I was putting together my TBR for #WitchAThon I was happy to see that this fit in with the 2nd choice for communing with the dead. Plus it would be a quick read. The story ended up being a lot of fun especially when the setting is mixed with various references to JK Rowling and Harry Potter. Definitely will read the next one.
After nearly dying, Cass can see ghosts; in fact, her best friend is a ghost. When her family heads to Edinburgh, though, she learns about the dangers of the Veil.
This was a great story. There is something about stories in which a thread connects or anchors the living to their bodies that appeals to me. I look forward to the sequel and I‘m curious about the mounting tension around Jacob.

My dad (who is an even bigger Harry Potter fan) and I are planning on a trip to Edinburgh this summer. I already had this on my list but was excited to see it pop up in my reading! 💕
The cover caught my eye so I decided to check it out from the library. I'm glad I did! This was a great read and not that scary (okay maybe her interaction with the Raven was intense!). The story is about a girl who sees ghosts and can go to the other side where the ghosts resides. Sort of like an Odd Thomas story for children but the story flows so it can be read by any age.
“Ever since Cass almost drowned (okay, she did drown, but she doesn't like to think about it), she can pull back the Veil that separates the living from the dead . . . and enter the world of spirits. Her best friend is even a ghost.” #ghostly
+1 for #TeamSlaughter #Scarathlon #ChillingPhotoChallenge
First Halloween-season read done! 🎃👻 Although this story takes place in summer, it‘s all about ghosts. I picked it up and couldn‘t put it down. I audio-read it—following along in the book at times while listening to the audiobook. Reba Buhr does an excellent job narrating.
Mainly set in Edinburgh, I now have bumped up Scotland 🏴 on my list of must-see. If I could, I‘d get on a flight tomorrow.
1. They were having a conversation. 😂
2. Read, work jigsaw puzzles, binge Netflix
3. Shop for my swaps, read
Happy Hump Day! 👋🏻
The weather has gotten chilly, the days shorter, and so it‘s time for audio-puzzling! Listening to the tagged as I finished this lovely one, Planetary Visions, by Ravensburger.
Here is what I got from @KatieDid927 for my #screamathon swap. Like woah so much!!

Thanx to you I have an Oogie Boogie that bad boy! The mystery is Jack! These cute skull bookmarks!!
Funny we gave each other the same book! Maybe a buddy read is needed in the future 🤣
My first V Schwab and I really enjoyed it! The story is not terrifying at all, just a little spooky. The Edinburgh setting was great, and I really like the friendship between Cassidy and Jacob. I look forward to their further adventures!
I live! Sorry for the radio silence, #TeamNamastePositive; my first back to school as a school librarian kicked my butt! But I‘ve been doing well on my #BFC goals; I‘ve increased my running to 5–6 days per week, and I‘ve been reading a ton.
VE Schwab is going to be at the Bookmarks festival in Winston-Salem on Saturday, promoting the second book in the Cassidy Blake series, Tunnel of Bones. Because I'm dying to meet her, I grabbed City of Ghosts on audio. This was a good story, part ghost tale, part love letter to Edinburgh. I love Cassidy and Jacob, and I love Schwab's writing style, just as much with her middle grade novels as her “adult“ novels.
Spooky but not too spooky. It's a ghost story with a fun twist and set mostly in Scotland. Characters from different backgrounds are included but book does not made a big deal of it. This one's going to be a nice addition to my middleschool classroom library.

This book was so cute! I loved following Cassidy and Jacob as they explored Edinburgh and made new friends. V did an amazing job bring the history of Edinburgh to life and had just the right amount of pop culture references. It‘s a quick read and prefect for all ages! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
