The Girl Who Played with Fire
The Girl Who Played with Fire | Stieg Larsson
The Girl in the Spiders Web, the new book in the Millennium Series, is available now!Part blistering espionage thriller, part riveting police procedural, and part piercing expos on social injustice, The Girl Who Played with Fire is a masterful, endlessly satisfying novel. Mikael Blomkvist, crusading publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation. On the eve of its publication, the two reporters responsible for the article are murdered, and the fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to his friend, the troubled genius hacker Lisbeth Salander. Blomkvist, convinced of Salanders innocence, plunges into an investigation. Meanwhile, Salander herself is drawn into a murderous game of cat and mouse, which forces her to face her dark past. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Working on this one, I hated the girl with the dragon tattoo until about halfway through. Hoping this one is interesting throughout. Oh and it‘s missing a piece of the cover bc I got it at the used book store and someone cut their name out of it 📚❄️

"When she came to her senses again she cut off all contact with him. It had not been easy, but she had steeled herself. The last time she saw him she was standing on a platform in the tunnelbana at Gamla Stan and he was sitting in the train on his way downtown. She had stared at him for a whole minute and decided that she did not have a grain of feeling left, because it would have been the same as bleeding to death. Fuck you."

Starting The Girl Who Played With Fire tonight. I first read this trilogy back in 2015, so it's nice to come back & revisit. I do wish List had a re-read option, instead of moving it back & forth between the 'have read' & 'reading' shelves.

Not as good as the first book. And I found the ending a little far fetched but over still a good book. Will definitely continue the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Made good progress on this last weekend when I spent ~14 hours in a car driving. Really enjoy the story. Some of the characters really bother me with who they talk about women but I can‘t decide if it‘s the characters I don‘t like or the writing...less than 6 hours left to finish this one but it‘s due back to the library soon so I better get on it.

Okay, so the book had some twists that I wasn‘t expecting and with an ending like that, I‘d be royally P.O.‘ed if I didn‘t have the third book! Also, just found out a 6th book in the series is due to release this year.

Larsson is easily becoming one of my favorite authors. His writing seems to drag on in places because he describes the boring everyday things that Blomkvist and Salander do and with any other series I would hate it. But I love knowing what Salander gets up to in her free time and seeing their development as a whole.

What an adventure! It‘s action-packed danger all the way with Blomkvist and Salander in this, the second in the Millennium trilogy. Intricate and complex with edge-of-your-seat plot twists as Blomkvist uses his journalistic skill and Salander uses her computer nouse to crack open a sex trafficking ring. But the story contains so much more. Read it or listen to it, it‘s brilliant! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TrishB Loved this too 👍🏻 13mo
Ms_T @TrishB Wasn‘t it great?! I‘ve dived straight into the third book 😃 13mo
TrishB Yep, the whole trilogy. These are really the only ‘Scandinavian‘ novels I really enjoyed. 13mo

Oh my God this book was great. As with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the first 200 pages are a bit of a slog, but my does the pace accelerate from there. Absolutely did not see the twists towards the end coming.

And that completes the 2018 #ReadHarder challenge! It's been very rewarding. Can't wait to start on 2019. (I may have already started on 2019)

My boyfriend and I found a used book sale today. This is our lovely #bookhaul. 😄📚 The only downside is that the second book of the Millennium Trilogy isn‘t a hardcover like the other two I have. It‘s going to bother me, but it was only 75 cents, so I got it anyway. I‘ll just have to replace it at some point. 😂

I‘m finally listening to the sequel after nearly two years! A friend & I once debated about whether or not to marathon read entire series back-to-back. To me, it depends on the series. I don‘t mind reading light-hearted or children‘s series back-to-back. But I like to put some time between serious or weighty books in a series. This series definitely falls into that category!

TheRiehlDeal @Aleida Awe, really!? That's a shame. Supposedly, there is another book in the series coming out Sept. 12th. It's called The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye. And... it's by the same author. Hopefully it's as good as the last one. 2y

A good audiobook! I'm still enjoying the stories of Lisbeth & Mikhail. I love that Larsson doesn't hesitate to expose the misogyny he sees around him, but boy are these books absolutely brutal! I look forward to listening to the next installment, but I may need a bit of a break before diving back in.

tracyrowanreads I love the books, loved the audiobooks, and love the Swedish films, particularly the extended ones made for TV. Alas, I wasn't too crazy about the most recent one, though I hesitate to blame Lagercranz who was working from Larsson's notes. I think it was over with three. 3y
Texreader Love this trilogy!! 3y
Redjewel_7734 @tracyrowanreads @Texreader I've read the entire trilogy in ebook & I always felt the story was pretty complete there. I'm looking forward to giving the extension of the series a shot, but I don't know that I have high expectations or hopes for it. Sometimes there is an art for knowing when a series is complete. 3y

tracyrowanreads @Redjewel_7734 Wholeheartedly agree. 3y
MicheleinPhilly This was my favorite of the trilogy. I won't read the 4th because I think it's nothing more than a money grab by his father and brother. 3y
Redjewel_7734 @MicheleinPhilly I'm so torn on whether to read the 4th book. I love the characters so I want to see more of them but the trilogy feels so complete that I'm afraid the 4th book will ruin them for me-esp since the description of the story sounds so forced. 3y
melbeautyandbooks I thought the 4th book was a good addition. Obviously, it's hard for someone else to carry on an author's series. I thought he did a good job. I'm looking forward to the next one. 3y
Redjewel_7734 @melbeautyandbooks that gives me hope that it might be worth it to give it a chance 😊 (edited) 3y

It's been a few years since I read these books, but I really enjoyed them. Well, maybe enjoyed isn't quite the right word. In truth, they were pretty horrifying, but so addictive at the same time. Such a shame that Mr. Larson passed before he could finish the series.

#LyricalApril Day 23 Genius hacker Lisbeth Salander was my first thought for #GirlOnFire 🔥She's fierce, loyal, brilliant and won't take shit from anyone! Sounds a lot like Alicia Keys 💪🏼💗(Is anyone watching The Voice?!?) 🎤

Reggie These books were crazy to me. And all the violence that happens poor Lisbeth. But then I think there she is on a beach during a hurricane killing a husband and doing the wife a favor. I like that she didn't become a victim. P.s how many Firestarters do you think there are gonna be today? 😜 3y
