Not great! A little weird and takes a really long time to connect parallel stories.

I found this one through my overdrive/ kindle. Meant to be suspenseful, a thriller? I got where the author was trying to go but.. problematic main character, she comes off as immature. Lots of lackluster reveals. I was annoyed by writing and style but did finish it. Barely.
When young lawyer Lily marries Ed, she's determined to make a fresh start. To leave the secrets of the past behind. But then she takes on her first murder case and meets Joe. A convicted murderer whom Lily is strangely drawn to. For whom she will soon be willing to risk almost anything. But Lily is not the only one with secrets. Her next-door neighbor Carla may be only nine, but she has already learned that secrets are powerful things.
Very hard to like the main character. Or any of the characters at that. A little girl that they had taken to as a child, come back into their lives years later as a beautiful young woman, with revenge on her mind.
This was full of unreliable narrators as well as twists and turns. Still, it wasn‘t my favorite psychological thriller. It was just so much lying and so much secret-keeping, and then some things that were left unresolved.
#bookspinbingo - got a bingo!
#pop21 - a book you have seen on someone‘s bookshelf
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A good thriller with plenty of twists and turns. It took me a bit to get into it but once I did, I was hooked!! It is a story of Carla and the havoc she reeks in her own life and that of Lily and Ed.

A story of deception and love, it explores the boundaries of right and wrong, the morally gray areas we as humans sometimes find hard to define. While not being a romance, this tale brushes on numerous types of relationships that transpire between a man and a woman- both good and bad. The characters are well-developed. I feel like I know and understand them. The climax is amazing and it enhances and shifts the light that is shed on the story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
How can someone uphold the law when he is acting immorally himself?
Idk about the mixed reviews, but the more I read the more emotional I get. My heart goes out to Carla and her mom. This is somehow a comfort read for me at the same time. It's interesting to say the least. Thx so much for this @ruthiella
What seems strange to to you isn't strange to me. And vice versa. My habits are quite normal in my book.
There are some things we don't want the rest of the world 🌏 to know.
Fear gives me courage - rightly or wrongly - to stand up for myself.
I'm getting emotional because the kids make fun of Carla at school, so she doesn't want to go. Maybe I'm too empathetic, but I feel so sorry for her. @Chrissyreadit Have you read this one?
⭐️⭐️/5 👎🏻
Where to start? Unreliable narrators; incorrect information about Autism being a mental illness, and people with ASD described as devious & violent. No clear plot. All over the place storyline. And the big “mystery” was the most anticlimactic thing in any book I‘ve ever read.
I won‘t be in a hurry to read more by this author. #myhusbandswife #janecorry
I really like this book...but I‘m really taking issue with the way High Functioning Autism is being portrayed. Being on the Autism Spectrum doesn‘t mean a person has mental health issues. ASD is a cognitive developmental disorder; NOT a mental health issue. Authors who don‘t research properly bother the hell out of me. 🤯😡🧐
After her husband of less than a few months nearly chokes to death on an undercooked steak & kidney pie 🥧, Lily has ⬆️ thought!!! I think we have an unreliable narrator on our hands! #myhusbandswife
Thanks for both tags 🏷 @TheSpineView ♥️ #Two4Tuesday & #WondrousWednesday

This was an okay book for a debut novel. In the beginning of the story I loved the authors style and thought it was a fast read, but as the story continued I thought her style got sluggish and hard to keep up with. It had so many pieces that needed to be solved at the end I wondered how the author would tie it up at the end. Overall it was a good book for the group K read.
I'll mail.it out this week.
I am reading the last book in the series and I am so sorry Group K I am so behind! I am gonna finish this book by the end of this week! Sorry there was an 804 page book in my way ;p
#Two4Tuesday Thanks @TheSpineView for the tag!
1) 🤦🏻♀️ Read some, finished nothing. So behind on reading & totally didn‘t get to anything I had planned. It was a tough month. 😔
2) Catch up for #PemberLittens #potteraday and #AuthorAMonth

So I really love the LItsy Postal Mail Bookclub. It's been a great way to read new books and to share stories with others. When do we sign up for round 9?
Looking forward to reading the last book in round 8!
Finished the one up today for #lmpbc! I'll wait to post my thoughts on it until after everyone in the group has read it. This will be headed out to you on Tuesday @rsteve388 #groupk @BookwormAHN @Alfrazier21
I started this book a couple of days ago. It was on the buy one get one for 50% off shelf. It‘s actually pretty good.
I finished our book for #lmpbc No spoilers but I did enjoy My Husband's Wife. @Mynameisacolour it should be in the mail to you some time next week.
#EasterExtravaganza This book has a green cover and has the words dog, to be, & and then in it.
@Andrew65
Easy to read and fairly captivating.
Group K - I finished this one yesterday and it‘s on its way to @BookwormAHN 📚 I‘ll save posting my thoughts on the story, so as not to give anything away!

I picked this up straight after finishing 'Blood Sisters'. It was a good read, bits were predictable (like the affair between her husband and the sexy young Italian) but I really liked the way the author made you question your perspective and assumptions about 'whodunnit'. Fascinating storyline about the son with autism too. I liked how the female lead made a lot of mistakes - no clear-cut goodies and baddies, hard to say who was 'to blame' for ☠️
The book was amazing. The plot twists were crazy and I couldnt put it down. I would recommend this to anyone who loves drama and jealous affairs.
I mixed up my #MagnificentMarch prompts & thought today‘s was #GreenCover so oh well! This is on my #TBR list & I hope to get to it soon.
This story has great bones, but I found the telling somewhat convoluted and redundant. In my opinion the story was plodding and the characters less than compelling. I have never bailed on a book, but I came close several times on this one. I doubt that I will be reading any other efforts by this author.
Truly enjoyed this one, and it kept me guessing for the most part. A couple of things weren‘t quite resolved for me, but it didn‘t affect my opinion! Thanks for lending it to me, @MommyOfTwo !!
How easy it would have been to let Ed choke to death. To pretend it was an accident...
But it‘s then that I have my idea.

“Women like us, all we need is to be beautiful.”
In response to her daughter asking for help with her homework?! 😱😡
With the last sentence I just read to this! I‘m thinking wait, what?!
Thank you so much @Avanders ! Amazing box again. My book has been returned to me but I haven‘t gotten the book @Mommamanzi picked yet, so it‘s not quite over yet 😊 #CBBC #CoffeeBeanBookClub
I FINALLY finished this book! I read about 2 books a week usually, this took me over a month! The book should have been halved and it could have been saved. It was just such a chore to struggle though while the ideas actually weren‘t that bad.
There are enough good unreliable female narrator books out there that are good. This one isn‘t.
Who likes continuously reading about how “fat” the main character is (it says shes a UK size 14, which is a US size 10/12...😑) so much that it spoils the book? If that‘s you, here‘s your new fave.
Just a cool shot at a local coffee shop with a yummy coffee flight. This book was laying on the table begging for a picture!
My April goals! I did not finish my match goals as I‘ve been in a reading slump thanks the “my husbands wife” which was part of my March reads and I‘m still stuck on it. But hoping to get through these books, and also finish the 2 from March and get back into reading daily!
My friend Kim gave me this book to read and we usually have very similar taste in books, however, this one was not my favorite. I felt that the twists it took weren‘t plausible and the characters weren‘t all that likable. Overall, it was just an eh kind of read for me.
