Honestly... wtf even is this book? It‘s like the author threw every literary fiction cliche into a blender, poured the resulting word slurry onto the page and called it a day.
I almost started to think it was a parody of literary fiction novels, but ultimately it‘s not smart enough to pull off that con job.
Who else is doing #24in48 this weekend? Who else has a wildly unrealistic TBR for the event? 🙋♀️ You can follow my journey here or in more depth on my Instagram @ the.nerdy.spinster!!! Let me know where to follow you! @24in48
Is anyone else agonizing over getting their #24in48 reading list in order for next weekend?
Can this book get anymore AU Gilmore Girls fanfictiony? I mean I don‘t hate it, but... Sana is basically queer Rory Gilmore...
I‘m here to keep this month of queer lit going... though to be fair I still read a lot of queer lit all year round. In June I read ONLY queer books.
I‘m so excited to start reading this one!
Staycation Day 2: I was way to early for a meeting at my local coffee shop, so I cooled my heels with a frozen hot chocolate and a book... jury‘s still out on the book but the frozen hot chocolate was great.
Confession Time: I am and always be Royal Romance trash... give me a fictional prince or princess falling in love with an American commoner any friggin day of the week. I am 100% here for the hallmarky feels!
WHAT DID THE STORY SCULPTOR DO TO DESERVE THAT?!
Happy Pride y‘all!
I got my hands on an ARC of this beauty... I‘m a little terrified to read it because I love ‘The Night Circus‘ so much... but that‘s not stopping me from dropping everything to read it immediately.
In a mood for gothic novels, thunderstorms, woodsmoke...
I bought myself this book as a birthday present and I‘m finally settling in for some serious reading.
While I am very much enjoying this book... I must fervently disagree with the author. Winona Ryder is THE definitive Jo March, and NOTHING you can write will ever convince me that casting her was anywhere near a mistake.
My Harry Potter ReRead has been going on for a month now... and I have been SO into it! So much so that I designed my September Bullet Journal after it... my Hogwarts letters mood Tracker is my favorite page.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 21 pt 2
Let‘s be real... can anyone ANYONE explain to me why Dean Thomas wasn‘t made prefect over Ron?
And I mean other than “Ron being prefect serves the plot better and causes Harry some angst that develops his character...blablabla”
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 21
I would only stop short of committing acts of physical violence to get JK to give me a three book Marauders series...
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 19 pt 3
I complained about GoF being long before I remembered that OoP is EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEVENTY PAGES!!!
I mean it‘s quite an achievement to get kids to read a single book that is 103 pages longer than the ENTIRE Chronicles of Narnia...
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 19
I‘ve officially crossed into the dark books... I mean they‘re all pretty dark if you look at them closely, but you know after Cedric, there‘s no turning back.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 19...
WHY IS THIS BOOK SO LONG?!?!
I knew that this one would be a slog... but it‘s killing me, kids...
HARRYDIDYAPUTYERNAMEINTHEGOBLETAFIYAH?!?!?!?!!
He asked calmly.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 17
David Tennant was criminally underused in GoF... also it is easily the worst movie of the 8.
Not really a bookish update, but I‘m watching and reading at the same time.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 16 pt 3
This book is 700+ long! Madness! Oh well, on to it then...
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 16 pt 2
Just finished Azkaban... and I‘m reasonably comfortable in saying that it‘s still my favorite.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 16
Gary Oldman is not MY Sirius Black!
I have always had a soft spot for Sirius, and as such a very specific idea of who he is... and this casting misses the mark by so much that I can‘t even...
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 15
The Firebolt goes 150 mph... can you even imagine being on a open carriage vehicle that‘s going 150mph?! Probably not fast enough to liquify your body but definitely fast enough to cause serious damage.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 13
There are two types of people in the world: people who know Prisoner of Azkaban is the best Harry Potter book, and people who are wrong.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 12
I didn‘t update at al as I read Chamber of Secrets... oh well. I just finished and I don‘t know why people don‘t like it. I‘ve always enjoyed it. Anyway, on to my favorite book of the series!
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 5 part 2
I get to skip quidditch!
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 5
I love these books and I love this world... but reading it as an adult has been interesting. JK Rowling has some definitely problematic... mostly I‘ve been noticing her tendency to use the ugly=bad trope. It‘s lazy and beneath her talents.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 4
I firmly believe in the healing power of Harry Potter (both the books and films) after some extended exposure I‘m finally feeling well again.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 3
I love LoquaciousLiterature‘s fan art, and this is how I‘m imagining the Golden Trio this time through.
Harry Potter ReRead: Day 2
I apparently have/had food poisoning and didn‘t read anything yet today... the project is not off to a great start.
