I loved this funny, light, mysterious read! Finlay Donovan is a single mom and author who is in danger of losing her book deal as she's months behind on her deadlines. She meets with her agent at Panera to talk it through and a desperate woman at the next table misinterprets the conversation and hires her as a hit woman! Finlay finds herself in the world of crime & mobsters, all while trying to hold onto her kids and love life. Excited for book 2!

OMG OMG OMG First book of 2022 and I already know this is the book I‘ll be recommending to EVERYONE this year!!! Thank goodness the second book comes out soon!
Finlay‘s story was so sexy, suspenseful, and sublime! Loved the characters and all of the twists and turns. She felt like such a real person, balancing single motherhood and her career, just put into a very out-of-the-ordinary situation!
THANK YOU @SeaToSkyes !! #NewYearWhoDis #NYWD22

I had trouble with this book. I listened to the story via audiobook. I did like the narrator, but didn‘t find any of the characters especially likable. I also didn‘t find the plot very believable. I kept listening out of curiosity to see what would happen at the end. I can‘t say the end was very surprising.

Such a fun and entertaining ride. An accidental hitman borne of a conversation misinterpreted from eavesdropping at Panera. Can‘t wait for the second book in Feb 2022.

Not my normal genre but off to a rousing start. Finley is a harried mother going through a divorce, already months behind on all the bills with the ex threatening to take the children. And then a woman misinterprets a conversation and offers her a lucrative offer to take out her own horrible husband. In only two chapters, I can feel the desperation and am ready to watch her become a contract killer!

SamanthaMarie Okay, that sounds really interesting 😅 2mo

Move over Stephanie Plum! Finlay is a struggling romance/mystery writer with two young children and a cheating ex-husband. While discussing her upcoming novel with her agent over lunch, the woman at the next table misunderstands the conversation and believes Finlay to be a killer-for-hire. In a strange turn of events, Finlay unintentionally agrees to get the job done and ends up getting pulled into the dark world of crime. Zany, clever, 5-stars!

I don‘t understand the high reviews but that‘s my opinion. The first bit was just her constant complaining about mom stuff then the totally over the top plot beginning and also the threat of two romances..I just had to stop. I dislike romances and the premise was so far fetched I couldn‘t get into it so I quit pretty early on.

I wanted something light and fun so I picked this one up from my local library. I really enjoyed it. Sure some of the story is a bit far-fetched, but I found myself laughing a few times at the strange predicaments Finlay manages to find herself.

Easy, entertaining read with a snarky main character and enough mystery to keep things interesting.

4.5 stars
It‘s been awhile since I read a mystery, but this was an enjoyable road trip audiobook that was more of a blending of genres than a “proper” mystery. In some ways, that worked better for this book. Female friendships, motherhood, and everyday minutia (d)evolves, thanks to misunderstandings, to discussions of a murderer-for-hire at Panera and during a spin class. Lighthearted and humorous, it is an enjoyable read that is not too dark.

Divorced housewife turned it hitman, not very probable but hilarious! I really enjoyed this book after reading a somewhat heavy one yesterday. While the storyline is pretty far-fetched…Russian mafia, multiple dead bodies, multiple hits for hire, and an almost relationship with a detective who is too close to the case…definitely made for an interesting story. Book 47 in 2021

Wow! This book has so much hype around it that I went in with very high expectations, and every single one was met. It was sooo good! It was equal parts, mystery, comedy, and a dash of romance. So so so good, I highly recommend you go pick this one up because it will definitely meet your expectations! 5/5!!

Finished this audio yesterday and loved it. Parts of it were completely unbelievable but that also made it funny. The whole book was a really fun read and there is going to be a second book about Finlay coming out in February 2022. A divorced mom of 2 who accidentally becomes a contract killer for hire but things don't go according to plan. I highly recommend this book! Fun and perfect for summer.

Quirky, fun but some seriously killer content — LOL — that makes this one a read you need to 1) be in the mood for and 2) approach with a sense of humor or suspension of reality for a bit. MC is a mess, accidentally gets into murder for hire situation.

Definitely something you can read as you please, but can be finished quickly. Will have a follow up coming out. #mystery #fiction #contemporary #goodreads #popularfiction #botm
