All of Us Villains
All of Us Villains | Amanda Foody, Christine Lynn Herman
The blockbuster co-writing debut of Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman, All of Us Villains begins a dark tale of ambition and magick... You Fell in Love With the Victors of the Hunger Games. Now Prepare To Meet the Villains of the Blood Veil. The Blood Moon rises. The Blood Veil falls. The Tournament begins. Every generation, at the coming of the Blood Moon, seven families in the remote city of Ilvernath each name a champion to compete in a tournament to the death. The prize? Exclusive control over a secret wellspring of high magick, the most powerful resource in the worldone thought long depleted. This year, thanks to a salacious tell-all book, the seven champions are thrust into worldwide spotlight, granting each of them new information, new means to win, and most importantly: a choice: accept their fate or rewrite their story. But this is a story that must be penned in blood.

Has anyone read this and enjoyed it? I‘ve started it FOUR times, and I cannot get into it. I keep retrying since it sounds like something I‘d love, but I honestly can‘t make it 30 mins in without zoning out, and having to keep going back.

Opinions? Do I stick with it, or just delete it off my phone?

ChaoticMissAdventures I see a lot of people recommending it, I haven't tried it, but 4 times? I would delete. I don't have the patience for that! Too many good books out there. 2y

“The Lowes did not tell their children monster stories so that they could slay them.
The Lowes told them so their children would become monsters themselves.”

Rereading the first book since the sequel is coming this week…and enjoying it again. 📖❤️😊

LauraJ Nice Funkos! I also collect the horror ones. 2y
Bette @LauraJ Thanks! I love them! ❤️ I always just think the villain is just as important as the hero…it make the book more interesting. 2y

4.1 ⭐

This is a hunger games with magic, more blood and gore.
There're teenagers from 7 families competing to death every 20 years to gain exclusive access for the one and only source of high magic in the world.
Although we have 7 teenagers, there are only 4 POV but they are all magnificent and unique.
If you're looking for dark fantasy with no protagonists, this is it.

A dark & magical Hunger Games with a pile of teenage magicians, most of them wealthy & privileged, vying to be the one left standing in a mass duel to the death. A bit of a slow start, but then takes off with a bang. Excellent cast of characters, lots of tension, & some serious ruthlessness. Yes...they are villains. Gritty plot, interesting magic system, high stakes, & lots of betrayal. And did I mention...DARK. Cannot wait for the sequel.

If you think how this is a book about tournament where people are supposed to kill each others there wasn't so much killing in this book.

This book felt sometimes a bit overwhelming: this book had much to get familiar with.

I always like darker books so I enjoyed reading this. I just had so high expectations for this one.

Yay!! I finished my #BookSpin book! I‘m not sure yet if it will be a pick yet. I keep going back and forth between pick and so-so. Some of the characters are so annoying. Now to catch up on Sense and Sensibility while hibernating under my new fuzzy blanket. 😁

If you liked Hunger Games, you probably will like this novel where the concept is similar. A tournament to obtain exclusive control of high magick. Seven champions will compete but only one is expected to survive. Who are these families, how they choose their champions? How is the tournament? The novel is dark and gory with some YA attraction since there is no romance per se. I really enjoyed it. Waiting for the sequel. 3.8/4⭐️

MAKE THIS THE NEXT MAJOR HOLLYWOOD FRANCHISE PLS AND THANKS. This is a magical, morally gray Hunger Games full of shifting character allegiances that had me SCREAMING by the end. Run, don't walk. #yafantasy

I listened to this audiobook & I can't imagine enjoying it any other way. The voices were rich & varied & the acting was spot on. The background was dark & sinister, the characters were unabashedly gray BUT that ending. It was painful to behold, it just ended. There was finally some telling dialogue & then nothing. I highly reccomend this book but maybe wait until you have book #2 in hand unless you're in the market for a oddly timed cliffy

When I first read the description of this Hunger Games-esque YA fantasy, I couldn‘t wait to read it! Set in a cursed town, four of the seven great families provide the perspectives for the latest cycle of the curse that forces these seven to fight to the death! I loved the world-building and the characters all grew on me! Though I had an early audio copy, I much preferred reading this physically- the male reader was just too melodramatic for me!

Twainy I also enjoyed it. I think it‘s coming up in one of my book boxes …. Illumicrate or GSFF … not sure which and will be disappointed if I remember that wrong LOL 3y
TorieStorieS @Twainy please let me know which one! I have been debating over both!!❤️😬🥰 3y

"???? ?????? ???? ???? ??? ?????, ??? ???? ?? ????? ??, ?? ??? ???? ?????? ?????? ??. ?? ??????? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?????."⁣

An excellent start to a duology. It's being compared to the Hunger Games but it definitely stands strong on its own. A book that you stay up late reading into the night because you can't wait to see what happens next.

🎧 I listened in one sitting!

What a good book! Kinda YA but not annoyingly so.

7 houses. Every 20 years 7 champions are sent behind the red veil and & only one can emerge the winner & their house controls the elusive high magic for the next 20 years.

I really liked the characters even though all of them are not villains … but definitely damaged. It‘s DARK! Enjoyed the magic, Common & High. Great prose. Easy read! Fun! Loved it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Twainy Comes out tomorrow! I‘ve heard it‘s like Hunger Games but ya know what … so is Red Rising & I enjoyed that series! Thank you Net Galley & Macmillan Audio, loved it!! 3y

All of Us Villains is a new twist on tournament type young adult books. By incorporating curses and spells and a cast of morally grey characters Foody and Herman created a brand new story for YA audiences. All of Us Villains kept me riveted all the way to the end and thanks to the cliffhanger ending I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Nope. Plot is not similar to the Hunger Games, but is exactly the same. Characters were underwhelming. Just kinda flat. #ARC #Edelweiss

I enjoyed this YA fantasy about champions from seven families who compete in a tournament to the death each generation with the arrival of the Blood Moon. The winner gets control of a source of high magick, the most prized resource in the land. Things are different this time around though. A salacious tell-all book has revealed many of their secrets, created new rivalries & drawn closer scrutiny. It starts slow but it‘s a good story & a fun read.

Guns N‘ Roses is playing an outdoor concert just a block away from my house and they are loud. No point in fighting it. So tonight, I‘m on the patio reading a good book and listening to live music. 🎶📖🎸

LibrarianRyan Nice. I‘m a little jelly over your galley. Is it any good. 3y
TracyReadsBooks @LibrarianRyan I‘m about 100 pages in right now and enjoying it. The authors are still moving the pieces into place but it has all the necessary ingredients—interesting magick system, intriguing characters, curses, family rivalries, competition to the death, tabloid gossip and more—for a great story. I‘m hoping it lives up to its early promise. 3y

I absolutely adored so many aspects of this book! It is written by two different authors & from four different perspectives, but the narrative is seamless. However, I will warn you now, this book is going to leave you hanging! Whatever expectations you have, you might as well kiss them goodbye because Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman do not play by the rules! I seriously don‘t know how I am going to find the willpower to wait for the sequel!

With a title like All of Us Villains and a description saying it‘s like Hunger Games, my expectations were pretty high. The characters are intriguing, but the story itself was a bit lacklustre for me; it was kind of boring. A lot of how the kids are all pretending to be something they‘re not and not much action. That said, the ending was an unexpected twist. I do wish there was more Alistair and Hendry; they were the two I found most interesting.

Out 11/09: Fans of magic, ambition, and dark fairy tales, All of Us Villains is for all of us. A centuries-old competition to the death has long been the closely-guarded secret of the remote city of Ilvernath, where every 20 years 7 families send their teens to scheme, compete, and murder. Only 1 champion will survive and only one family will control the city's supply of high magic until the next Blood Veil falls. But this year is like no other.👇

underground_bks (CONT.) A tell-all book has scandalized the world, all eyes are on Ilvernath and its family histories, its sinister secrets, its time-worn fairy tales, and, of course, its monstrous children. These villains will rip your heart out (and make you want to hug this book). I highly recommend this gruesome, dark, and twisty series-starter for fans of The Hunger Games, A Deadly Education, and The Hazel Wood. 3y
