My favourite book of 2018.
My favourite book of 2018.
I think I was expecting something else from this book. I definitely wante expecting the fantasy element which really isn't my thing. Despite that, it wasn't terrible. I really enjoyed some of the characters a lot.
Fairytales aren't usually my thing, but this was beautifully dark. So good.
Getting a little reading in while waiting for a ride. Only thing that got my mind off the humidity.
The reviews of this book almost turned me off reading it, but I'm glad I picked it up. Good read for sure.
It was a cute story, something light, but I wasn't wowed.
Really enjoying this series. Thought I would post these as my current read is going to take me a while!
A friend recommended me this book and it turns out it was in my TBR pile. At first I was a little overwhelmed by this novel, but in the end I really appreciated it.
This is what a good romance is! The characters were well developed. The plot was more than just romance. Excellent read while trying to escape the heat. I was dreaming of the cool (even if mosquito infested) Alaska.
Avoiding the heat by hiding with my book. ❤
Ah! This book. I bought it 100% because it was pretty and I am impressed. Its YA. It's about a troubled girl throwing herself into climbing. It had a sprinkle of romance as well, but not too much. Great book.
Loved this book! Not my typical read, but it was kinda fun with a little spook on the side.
My very first attempt at taking cute pictures with my books. Not nearly as successful as I was hoping, but I'm not a visually creative person, so bare with me!
Just finished this one now at work. It's a story about a couple struggling with infertility, which I thought was interesting, not something I had read before. So, while the topic was unique (to me) I found the characters half baked. I think that's why I have a hard time with books that focus on relationships. The characters should be so much more than their relationships, but they rarely feel that way.
Pretty books! Reading has been the only thing that had calmed my anxiety these past few days. It's all I want to do. ❤
Started and finished this audiobook today. These are some intense stories. Wonderful storytelling.
I really suffered through this book, however the end left me super hopeful that the rest of the series might be better. It was really a slow start and a lot of it felt like filler, but the end left a good set up for book two. I'm not sure if I will read on, but we will see how I feel after I finish other books I've started.
Super cute! I wasn't sure I was going to like it in the beginning but I'm glad I stuck with it. Adorable.
I might be the only one I know who was so-so on this book. I found the MC, Lara-Jean, rather boring. I felt like she could have written more about each of the letters. I will probably still read the other in the series, but I wasn't wowed.
I haven't started reading this yet, but I'll be honest, I bought this book just for the cover. I love it.
Since this book has been so hyped, I'm looking forward to it. Plus, I can wait to see its adaptation.
This book took me a long time to read, but it's not the book's fault! The ending really hit me in the feels. Definitely check it out.
Just started this audiobook now that I'm back at work. It is an interesting topic, so I'm looking forward to it.
To avoid the heat, we went to Chapters. It wasn't that cool in there or else I probably would have ended up leaving with more. Picked up one Canadian author just to keep things balanced. 😊
Some beautiful imagery. Some great lines. However, I couldn't bring myself to care about the characters. Took me a while to read since it didn't hook me like I hoped it would.
Started watching the show though, because why not. Haha.
Starting this today!
Just came in the mail so... I guess I'm putting off Sweetbitter for the moment, but it's not pulling me in as much as I hoped.
First week post-surgery has not been as productive when it comes to reading as I thought. Day 6 and only now am I feeling well enough to pick up this book.
So far, I really enjoy the style, but we will have to wait to see where it goes from here.
Sadly, this is new and not one of the books on my TBR pile... hahaha.
Well, what an interesting book! I really enjoyed following Willow's journey to discover her mother's secrets. I like all the unique, quirky characters. I recommend it!
If I would have know I had time to finish this book today I wouldn't have written a blurb earlier. 😋
My TBR shelf is now two shelves, plus some. I'll be off work for two weeks because of a surgery so maybe I can get through a few of them. I'll aim for just four because I'll be medicated.
This book is taking me longer to read than I would like to admit, but not because of the book itself. So far, excellent read.
After a disappointing provincial election, these two are helping me get through my woes. Picked these up for a plane ride back from Boston in the fall and was extremely impressed by them. The story and the art are just stunning.
I was listening to a comedian who was making fun of people who say their favourite book was something they read as a child. He wondered if they had read any books since 5th grade. It made me laugh, but also made me realize that The Outsiders is still one of my favourite books!
Even though I have two other copies I bought this copy last year. It is a fantastic edition. This book will forever be in my top ten.
I have no words to express how much I loved this book and the subsequent movie. It shook me. Stunning and sad.
After his last drinking binge almost kills him, Saul Indian Horse begins his journey of recovery by going back through his history and getting in touch with his roots as a northern Ojibway.
Starting this one tonight, even though I should be sleeping.
Bought it for $1.50, so we will see how it goes!
"We‘re all taught from a young age that there are only two choices: pink or blue, Bratz or Power Rangers, cheerleading or football. We see gender in two dimensions because that‘s what society has taught us from birth. But, are you ready for a shocking revelation?
Society needs to change."
A wonderfully written dystopian set in my home province. After global warming ruins our country people become dreamless, with the exception of the Indigenous people of Canada. The non-Indigenous people want to dream again and they believe the bone marrow of the Indigenous folks holds the key.
This novel mixes glimpses into the past with a look into the future. It is moving and really makes you think about both the past and future.
"It's never love, as soon as you feel the next love. Because isn't that a prerequisite of the condition? That you tell yourself everything that came before wasn't really it."
