This book is so good! I can‘t believe I waited so long to read it! 📚 Reid does not shy away from the hard topics, rather she unapologetically embraces subjects like homosexuality in the 50‘s and into the 1980‘s, interracial marriage, being a woman and wanting more...more of everything. This book surprised, entertained, and gave insight into the glamorous and not-so-glam world of Hollywood.

LiteraryinLawrence I was so pleasantly surprised by this one! Not sure why I didn‘t read it earlier either. 6y

An evening alone with jazz playing and the latest release by Ausma Zehanat Khan. You can't see in this photo but I am only a third way into the book and have sticky notes throughout with questions. What part is actual history and which is fiction?
📖
Fascinating, disturbing and absolutely absorbing.

Thenovellife Oh I hope you love it @Kindredanne it's crazy good! Literally 😉 7y
Kindredanne I'm even more excited to get it!! I had read early reviews that it was really a good one but had all kinds of twists and turns. Which I love a lot of twists and turns.... 7y
Thenovellife Please do let me know what you think! That ending is disturbing but resist any urge you may have to read ahead 😉 7y

Based on JRR Tolkien's WWI experience and written by Tolkien's grandson, No Man's Land promises to be a winner! Have you read it yet?

MMenefee I'm your (no longer a secret) Cupid and am wondering if you got your cupid goes postal pkg. I mailed it on 1/13 and threw out all my receipts last week, including the one with your pkg tracking, while reconciling bank statements. Oops! #stupidcupid 7y
Thenovellife Silly Cupid, not stupid! 😉 actually I just received it last night around midnight. My daughter brought my mail to me in AZ where I'm at for the next month. I can't wait to open it!!! But I'm being good and following the directions 😜😁 7y

Third book in the Neapolitan quartet and I want to throw this one across the room! Aargh! The writing is pure Ferrante- lush, descriptive, immersive. The plot took a turn I was thinking inevitable but hoping it wouldn't happen. Ugh! I'm so mad at Lina but especially at Elena! Now I've got to rush out and get book 4 to see if these friends completely ruined their lives forever.

Notafraidofwords I have this one sitting in my room and I haven't started it yet. Mostly because I was just so exhausted by the first two 7y
Thenovellife That's an excellent way to put it - the first 2 were exhausting! So rich with detail but also emotionally draining. @Notafraidofwords 7y

The 2nd book in Detective Khattak series. The first book, The Unquiet Dead, was incredible. It introduced us to Muslim detective Khattak and gave us insight into his life and beliefs all the while solving a murder reaching back to The Croatian War & war crimes committed.

The Kept Woman | Karin Slaughter
post image
Pickpick

Suspenseful, dark with emotional resonance, the Kept Woman has layers of thrills to keep you turning pages faster than the last. Trigger warnings: Karin Slaughter portrays crimes against women & children realistically & without restraint - one of the reasons I like her books so much – she brings awareness to these crimes. But if these are triggers for you please be aware before going in. Otherwise enjoy this fast-paced thriller!

Quite possibly the best in the Detective Helen Grace series. A couple of cautions: the squad is investigating murder(s) in the BDSM community and book 5 is not wrapped up as neatly as the previous four books. Translation: cliffhangers!
