This came a few days ago, but it‘s been insane this week so I haven‘t really been on here much. Thank you, @TheReadingMermaid !! Your package just went out today, so be on the lookout! 😊😊 #summerbookswap

Guys, I found Powell‘s yesterday! 📚 ☕️ #independentbookstores
I finally finished this book. I was so excited to read it, but within the first 40-50 pages I knew it wasn‘t for me. I could not get invested in any of the characters honestly. Other than a few good lines, I did not retain any of the plot of significance that Saunders attempted to convey. I did finish, but it felt more like a chore.
A lovely Saturday evening reading and drinking some Sam Adams. I will admit though that I don‘t know how I feel about this particular book. 😬
Wow! This was one of those books that made me cry, and I don‘t cry easily when I read. Thomas gives so much perspective about race relations in the U.S. through the lens of a teenage girl. Raw and unfiltered, it is one of the most important books of modern literature. I hope Thomas continues to write because she really is a talented writer.
I‘ll do it. I have so,e time off before my new starts! Will post my pile later 🤓😎 @TheReadingMermaid #makemereadit
This was a great debut! Thanks to the @bookriot All the Books podcast for the recommendation. I really liked the character development of Andrea as well as the shifting perspectives. It‘s complex with beautiful description and prose. Yet, it‘s still accessible and not overly flowery. Overall, it‘s fast-moving but does not compromise character development.

Catcher in the Rye was my favorite book in high school. I read it in AP Lit and loved it! #tbt #fbf
@MidnightBookGirl
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I thought the approach of telling it through the child‘s perspective was pretty creative. I could imagine Jack as one of my students with the broken syntax and child-like description of things. The most interesting part of Jack‘s character was how he reacted to sensory input in the second half of the story (don‘t want to give too much away). Ma seemed fairly relatable to me as a hero to a flawed character as well.

Eh I didn‘t hate it, but I didn‘t love it either. The characters weren‘t all that interesting. The main character seemed like she was the queen of oblivious humble-bragging. Overall, a light read but there are better light reads out there.
My reading buddy is clearly excited for my new book 📖 📚 🐱
@DebbieGrillo I got cancelled at work today and had a snow day yesterday. So what do I do? Finish this book and drink some coffee. And hopefully unpack some more boxes from moving last week. #SnowDayReads
@DebbieGrillo Here is my #SnowDayRead. I‘m almost done with it, but even with moving, I still have access to my books. Because priorities 😂

I loved this excerpt from Wonder. This year, I'm doing a kindness and acceptance theme in my therapy room. Even though my students are young, the world can be cruel. So, I give them a reminder to be kind to others, even if they don't deserve it. In these times, we all need that. #wordsofwisdom

I figured after watching most of the series I should give the book a try. This will count toward the Modern Mrs. Darcy 2017 reading challenge for a book longer than 600 pages 🐉 🦁 🐺 🦌 #GoT #fantasy #winteriscoming
One of the best releases of this year in my opinion. It offers much more substance than the typical celebrity memoir in that Noah provides an insider perspective on growing up biracial in apartheid/post-apartheid South Africa and how it compares to our country. He discusses tribal dynamics, interracial relationships, as well as the impact of systemic racism after Apartheid.

If there was ever a time where this book is culturally relevant, this is it. Whether you are liberal or conservative, you should read this book in order to understand an oft misunderstood portion of the population.
I think about this as I work with minority kids in lower socio-economic neighborhoods. How will their experience differ from mine? I often have to think about my own privilege as a white woman while working with my students. This gives me a lot of perspective to help me have some inkling of understanding of what they face as they get older.

My Friday evening reading cycling between this and Nick Offerman's book #litsypartyofone #parksandrec
It took me a while to finish this (~2 months). I loved the first few chapters, but it rapidly became too disjointed. The book seems to explore too many plot points that I didn't know what was relevant. I've heard that his other works are better, and I may attempt them down the line. I'm in the minority in saying that this did not work for me.
