It's always awesome when an author has used some of their close ones as models for characters: they feel so realistic. It was delightful to read.
It's amazing to imagine how this book was a contemporary when published and gives us now a view to that time period.
I enjoyed this more than the first part, maybe because characters were older or maybe the author had been better between these books.

Throwing in my all time favourite book for #maymontage prompt author has three names. From the fabulous Louisa May Alcott I present Little Women. I read this once a year or so and find something there every time.
Next up which sadly I didn't get to at Christmas as planned.I've never read this before, I've seen the Wynonna Ryder and Greta Gerwig movie productions and finally decided to read the book. After reading the forward I find myself annoyed that Louisa May Alcott's father was friends with Emerson and Thoreau, I was under the impression she started from dirt poor nothing. Alas she had some major white privilege going

1.The March family!
2. The March sisters, Jane and Elizabeth Bennett, and Olivia and Alexa from Jasmine Guillory's Wedding date books.
Fun questions!
I like to read Little Women this time of year because of the Christmas scenes. I still love this book but it did grate on me this read that the women were doing just fine but when the men came home from wherever they were they felt the need to lecture #FreeJo

1. The tagged book is one I will always associate with Christmas!
2. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future!

My favorite Classic couple is Jo and Laurie. The youtube clip perfectly explains why she couldn't marry him.

Finally reading this one! I really want to see the new movie and figure I should read the book first. This is a very old copy that was my grandmother's and has illustrations. I don't know the copyright date because it appears to be in Roman numerals. 🤣
Can you believe I‘d never read this before? Growing up I always heard about it as a great book about sisters, which didn‘t feel relevant to me. Anyway, now that I‘ve read it I can see why it‘s a classic, although I was not expecting how overtly preachy it is!
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how is this book so good?!?!? I somehow didn't read it until I was an adult, so this is only my second time visiting it, but it's just perfection. I'm so happy there's a bildungsroman prompt because this was revolutionary when it was written for showing girls growing up. #teamamy

"You have been running,Jo.How could you? When will you stop such romping ways?"said Meg reprovingly,as she settled her cuffs and smoothed her hair, with which the wind had taken liberties.
"Never till I'm stiff and old and have to use a crutch.Don't try to make me grow up before my time Meg.It's hard enough to have you change all of a sudden. Let me be a little girl as long as I can"-
Don't run!It really sucked to be a woman,I couldn't love Jo more
I am using the tagged book for April's prompt for this challenge.
I have used Foyles staff picks to find my book. See website, Little Women is on page 7 https://www.foyles.co.uk/all?frec=Staff+Choice&skip=120

So beautiful! I love penguin classics deluxe editions. Anyone have a beautiful one to share? I might need more... 😁
Good. Enjoyed reading about the journey all these girls take from childhood to adulthood. This book is an emotional roller-coaster as it goes through all the times and experiences we all have had.

Love this little reference to how it depends on the readers whether they get anymore! 😂Which they do as this is the end of part one, which is followed by Good Wives
I'm not sure which gift I like more ~ the coffee pillowcase my daughter made or the Little Women tea she bought for me. 🛌🍵
I finished this one a few days ago! It's a wonderful book and I still can't believe it was written in the 1860s. It did not feel much outdated and the characters are very relatable and lovable! No wonder this is a classic.
I choose Jo. Because I related to her so much as a child. I wanted to read and play and be a tomboy. And if I am ruined I‘m glad it was books that did the ruining! . #vivabibliophile
Gonna have to go watch this now since Book Riot told me to.
I'm also planning to start a reread via Serial Reader in the near future.

This is Jo's first observation of Professor Bhaer... intriguing. ✒️
I've been mostly audiobooking today as I tried to get some stuff done I should have last night, but now I'm settled in with my book and my Carlsberg blanket. A weird item for someone who doesn't drink, but I love it because it reminds me of good times in Denmark. #alternate24in48 @Librarybelle
Well instead of getting my apartment cleaned and prepped for a weekend of reading, I got worked up over hypocritical statements from senators using circular logic. Here's to a politics-free weekend with this TBR. #alternate24in48 @Librarybelle
I've read very little so far this year, but I can't make myself speed up. This deserves to be savored.
Ok I know this is silly but this young lady just visited my Little Free Library and I'm pretty sure she took the Little Women book that I won from Sony Pictures to distribute. I'm thrilled!

I finally got to see Little Women today and I LOVED it! It was so well done. It stays true to the text in many ways but also offers some updates that suit the characters and the moment. It's one of the best literary adaptations I've seen in ages. Greta Gerwig is a genius!
It's made me want to re-read the book. In part so I can appreciate the original text again AND so I can better understand how she re-imagined it. Seriously, so good!
For #wellreadmom #bookclub. I don‘t think I‘ve actually ever read the whole thing, but what a delight! I am ready to read the rest in this series!
I have signed up for a LARGE assortment of reading challenges for 2020, but generally tend to mood read. Therefore I only chose 3 specific books to finish throughout the year. To make sure I keep them high on the priority list, I made a spread in my bullet journal, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. 😍

1. I‘ve been reading as long as I can remember, both my parents are avid readers who instilled a love of reading in me and my siblings early.
2. The collapse of the Soviet Union.
3. This orange cough syrup that actually tasted good and lots of rest.
4. @Curly_Caffeinated_Reader @BethM
Just because I will always be inspired by Jo. Enough said!
Little Women opened in AU yesterday and I‘m in my area‘s first showing. And yes, I‘m wearing my Little Women locket. 🤓
Starting my first book of 2020. 🥰 #classicschallenge2020
Anyone else starting their first book now? If so, what is it?
From little weirds to little women !!! I just wanted to pop in and say that I loved the movie!!!! Go see it!!! This was the first chapter book I ever read, talk about ambitious. I did finish the book and got the free Pizza Hut pizza too!!! Book it changed my life 🤣🤣 I think I‘m due for a re-read
Brilliant movie - really faithful to the spirit of the book. Might even have cried! ❤️😭❤️
While in NYC I had the awesome opportunity to check out the Harney and Sons Tasting room! It was heaven. This beautiful tea was my favorite blend I tried. It tastes just like an apple orchard! Knowing me, I probably would still have bought it just for the tin ❤️
My sister wants to start reading more by buddy reading with me. This is huge on so many levels, but my favorite thing about this is it'll be a way to bond with her even though we live in opposite parts of the country. These two books will be our first books together.
Does anyone else buddy read with their siblings?
