I am having trouble getting into this one. Does it get better?

Presented as fiction, this book is based on real political and economic upheaval and graphically real poverty and crime in Jamaica. This book seemed to drag in places but it is rich with recent dark history of this beautiful country. I really enjoyed it. If you've ever traveled to Jamaica and ventured beyond the expensive resorts with high walls I think you'll be fascinated.
Really good. Some plot twists I didn't see coming.
This is another of my all-time favorites. The writing is gorgeous. The book is much better than the movie (although I did enjoy the movie). I love the theme of a long journey. It symbolizes so much.
Co-written by my friend Jody Seay, this is a true-crime story set in my home town, Tulsa, OK. It's a great read!
Such good writing. This book helped me to appreciate middle-eastern culture and recent history. So so good.
This one will make you cry like a baby, especially if you're a dog-lover like me. Loved every page.
I loved this book as a child. It really captured my young imagination and I fantasized for years about running away and living on my own in the mountains.
I cannot express how disappointed I am. I could not get through it. I was so annoyed by the main character. Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors but she lost her mojo on this one.
One of my all-time favorites. ❤
I love this book! The writing style flows beautifully. It is sensitive and poetic.
This is the tattoo on my left shoulder. It a Mockingbird and an (Atticus) finch. I read this book when I was 11 and it shook my world. It taught me how unfair and evil life can be. And how sweet, righteous and good life can be. ❤
I have enjoyed other Tana French novels more. I felt the story stalled at times and the ending was disappointing.
Loved this book. A memoir, but reads like a novel. Excellent writing, heart breaking content.
Very good book. A lot of tropes used but great characters with depth and heart.
Loved it!!! Great writing. I love the time period -- the '70s! What's not to love? I hope it's made into a movie someday.
I will read anything this woman writes. So dark and unexpected. Her writing style is excellent.
Uhh, it was o.k. I liked it but I don't get why it is so popular.
