Don't Stay Up Late
Don't Stay Up Late: A Fear Street Novel | R. L. Stine
In the small town of Shadyside, don't stay up late, because horrible things can happen... Both day and night, Lisa Brooks is plagued with nightmares and hallucinations. Could they be caused by the horrifying accident that landed her in the hospital for weeks? When Lisa finds out that a neighbor is looking for a babysitter for her little boy, Lisa jumps at the chance to keep busy and take her mind off of her troubling thoughts. But then the murders start -- and her friends begin dying one by one. Are Lisa's nightmares coming true? Find out in the next installment of R.L. Stine's Fear Street series, Don't Stay Up Late.

Finally caught up!

I really enjoyed this one. An unreliable narrator who doesn't know if what she's seeing is real or if she's losing it like everyone thinks she is after a horrific accident. A supernatural element adds a bit to the story but I really liked the uncertainty from start to finish. So much fun!

Book 93🎧 3.5⭐️

This one took quite an unexpected turn!! A wild ride indeed.

I think I enjoy the old school feel of the earlier Fear Streets more than the revival books, it was a simpler time😂

These ones have more gore and wild story lines but still happy to have more FS books!👌🏻👏🏻

Ooh this was tricky! I lent out so many books to an elderly neighbor there aren‘t too many books on my shelves right now but I think this works. Thanks for the tag @Addison_Reads

If I tag you, search your shelves for a book that matches the color, then post your pick, select a new color and tag more Littens to play.

Sorry for the late start discussion folks! Totally slacking in #buddyread duties! But who is ready to talk about the second book in the #fearstreetbuddyread!? This post is marked with a spoiler tag so let's begin!

laundry_piles Hopefully I did this post right but feel free to jump in! I personally loved this book more than the first one. It definitely felt more reminiscent of the original Fear Street books. 6y
BookwormAHN I thought this one was nuts, fun but nuts 😸 6y
Craftylikefox @laundry_piles @BookwormAHN I really enjoyed this one more than the first as well. Less cringe worthy slang. More monsters which makes it nuts! 😂This one was a bit closer to a goosebumps but with teenagers. So much fun! 6y
See All 19 Comments
laundry_piles @Craftylikefox @BookwormAHN yeah definitely got the Goosebumps vibe too! Some of the characters really annoyed me though. Who was your favorite? Least favorite? 6y
BookwormAHN @laundry_piles @Craftylikefox definitely a Goosebumps vibe. My least favorite character was the psychiatrist. I knew she was up to something. I'm not sure who my favorite was. 6y
Craftylikefox That‘s a tough one! I like this main character better than the last story‘s. my least favorite... maybe Issac, he kept complaining about his band and I kept thinking well then practice more or do something about. 6y
laundry_piles @Craftylikefox I hated Isaac! He was very obnoxious character! 6y
laundry_piles @BookwormAHN the psychiatrist, yes! 6y
Craftylikefox @bookwormahn I thought the psychiatrist was terrible!! 6y
laundry_piles Did anyone else find it slightly annoying that Lisa was so naive about Nate and Saralynn? 6y
BeansPage @laundry_piles YES!!!!! It's like "Hello???" (Smacks her over the head with the book) 6y
BeansPage I personally thought the ending was a little more than cheesy but that's RL Stine for you lol 6y
laundry_piles @TheReadingMermaid so much cheese but that's part of the novelty 🤣 after all these years of writing, I'm convinced Stine does that on purpose now. 6y
BeansPage @laundry_piles Yes, it's now like his calling card or his trademark 6y
ads0123 I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first one! I was super suspicious of the psychiatrist from the beginning, too. Also, I don‘t think you could pay me enough money to go back to a house after 2 murders were committed basically on their front lawn. Just say no Lisa!!!! 6y
laundry_piles @ads0123 um right!?! Actually I'm not sure I would've even gone back after what happened the first night there!! 🤣 6y
laundry_piles Thank you ladies for reading these books with me! So much fun! Don't Stay Up Late was a good one, can't wait to start book three! 6y
RedxoHearts Goosebumps were my absolute favorite books growing up. I can't believe I never read any of his Fear Street books though! I'm going to have to get one to read one day 6y
laundry_piles @RedxoHearts oh they're a lot of fun to read. Cheesy and nostalgic but so good haha! Feel free to join in! The buddy read is VERY low key! 6y

Yay for #JB mail! Thank you so much @Wife @amb @Trashcanman for the wonderful cards. Replies going out soon! I came home to a nasty mess. We had thunderstorms today and my boyfriend had to head out of town. Nigel had his first accident ever in the apt, thankfully in the bathroom. I think he just got so scared, the thunder literally scared the poop out of him. Storms gone, apt clean, now for some reading and cuddling.

tracey38 Aww, poor pup. Mine are scared of thunder, too. 6y
amb Poor pupper! The Bug also hates the thunder and fireworks no any noise that resembles thunder or fireworks. 6y
Craftylikefox @tracey38 @amb it breaks my heart. We have to hang out in the car. It‘s his safe place. 6y

#booknlunch I am enjoying this storyline more than the last fear street. Some Szechuan chicken for lunch, using the fork. I am not coordinated enough to use the chopsticks for hey gave me. #rlstine #fearstreet

laundry_piles I'm with you, the story is definitely better! And what a yummy looking lunch to go with! 6y

laundry_piles @MinDea there's definitely a discussion I'm just a major slacker because I got home super late from vacation last night! Haha I'll post something tonight after kids are in bed and anyone can jump in whenever! 6y

RadicalReader @laundry_piles forever a lover of creepy and crawly and can‘t find a better match for those categories than a tie between Stephen King and RL Stine 6y

Mehso-so

Finished this book while the whole house took afternoon naps (boyfriend, pup and cats???).

I thought this book was a quick fun read. I kind of felt like this wasn't the "typical" #FearStreet book as to what was really going on, but it was a light easy read. Had the typical edge of spookiness and twists you'd expect from Stine. Can't wait to read the next one! @laundry_piles

When I found out R.L. Stine relaunched the Fear Street series, I immediately had all the nostalgia: Fourth grade, Goosebumps and Fear Street paperbacks littering my floor, the Nickelodeon channel on in the background.
And this book was a fun return- a quick read with some unbelievably creepy characters/monsters and some brief mentions of the Fear family.
Pure entertainment for a trip down memory lane.

Reviewsbylola RL Stine was my jam growing up! 6y
kyraleseberg @Reviewsbylola Same here! After I finished this book, I brought down a box of Fear Street from the attic to rummage through this weekend. 6y
